, No I haven’t been tested for latex allergy what do they do rub it on you or inject something with latex under the skin?. I just started the bandaid and paper tape problems about a year and half ago. One bandaid is fine but if I bleed and need to change it I have to then try paper because more than one day of anything will make my skin red and react. Most people don’t have problems with the paper but I do. Coban doesn’t seem to bother me and that seems like it stretches like it has sometype of rubber to it. But it is hard to rap my left breast youd have to rap my body around in it and with my body that would be costly. I wear compression hose and I would assume they have some rubber in them mine are custom made 40/50 compression hose and so they don’t roll down they have a silicone type beading in the top of the ban used to be 150 a pair now they are closer to charging 175. I get little from pen ink spot size hardness to pinky size hard spots in the area where the hose have the silicone beading. I have a vena cava filter.protection from abdomen down Vascular surgeon recommended waist pantyhose I said I can’t even put on my own hose how am I supposed to put on pantyhose...he eventually said ok then he wanted thigh high.....and how am I supposed to keep them up they wanted to put an adhesive on my leg...then finally I said I will wear the compression hose all the time put them on before my feet get on the floor IF they are knee highs.....my doppler on the legs went from my veins looking like they had been put thru a blender to looking good. I am not as stiff and can put on my own hose just when they are brand new I have to use gloves for washing dishes to put them on till they stretch out some. My hands can look like red lobster if I use safe guard soap or tide laundry detergent......there is something in lupus think it is called mechanics hands check out some pics of that. Do you have lupus? .. still burning laid awake thinking is this hell on earth? I see doc kenik on 8 we are going to have to try something. I don’t really want to get off of blood thinners I don’t like having clots. I like the massage therapy but the edema is no fun. Nursing my son has a friend he graduated high school with that is going thru training to be a nurse. You have picked a what I think very rewarding profession. I hear a lot burn out seeing so much disease if not being too noisy why did you choose this career. I am sorry but I like to know people.

Re: Does EN favor the left side?

"I was just wondering elastic, rubber? Latex? my bumps lumps seem to form were clothing such as elastic in waist band of pants, elastic in bra. Any connection with others problems?. Itching was severe"Dear Jan AKA Burn,Have you ever been tested for an allergy to latex? I did not know how allergic I was to latex until I started doing nursing assistant work years ago. I ended up with blistering rash from my hands to my elbows that looked like I had been scaled with hot water. This is the worry I have had with the TED hose. I have been having a burning feeling in my feet but do to the EN I don't know if it is from that or if my TEDS have latex in them. Hope your EN is better.Love

Latex allergy can induce clinical reactions to specific foods.

OBJECTIVE:

The purpose of this study was to investigate crossreactivity between latex and

foods, to identify crossreacting IgE binding proteins, and to assess the

clinical significance.

METHODS:

Forty-seven latex allergic patients and 46 non-latex allergic patient controls

were studied.

Allergen sensitization was determined by skin-prick testing (SPT) and

allergenic proteins were identified by immunoblot reactivity and amino acid

sequence analysis.

RESULTS:

Immunological reactivity to foods was found to be common, occurring in 33

latex-allergic individuals but in only seven controls (P < 0.000001); 100 of 376

(27%) food skin-prick tests were positive in the latex-allergic subjects.

Twenty-seven out of 100 positive food SPTs were associated with clinical

symptoms.

Seventeen patients manifested a clinical allergy to at least one food including

11 with anaphylaxis, and 14 with local sensitivity reactions.

Positive food skin tests occurred most frequently with avocado (53%), potato

(40%), banana (38%), tomato (28%), chestnut (28%), and kiwi (17%).

Latex-allergic patients (23%) recognize a protein that had sequence homology to

a broad class of plant proteins known as patatins. Crossreactivity between latex

and several potato proteins was observed by immunoblot inhibition analysis.

CONCLUSIONS:

Sensitization to latex has extensive crossreactivity with certain foods and

leads to clinical allergic reactions.

Potatoes and tomatoes are newly reported cross-reacting foods.

Plant proteins with structural homology to latex proteins may predispose to food

allergy.
