Just want to report on my grandson Lucas.

Well today was they day the utility men came right into the alley beside his house where he lives and installed a brand new power pole! He was in heaven I tell you. They were without electricity to their house all day and Lucas got to see and talk to the men coming and going and saw the use a big truck with a lifter thingy to place the pole in the ground, and then they climbed up in a bucket and put all sorts of wires and interesting things on it. And they cut the old pole down with a power saw which amazed him.

When I went over there awhile ago he showed me his prized possessions and even let me hold them. They were two of the ceramic insulators they put on poles, one a little larger than the other and were real heavy. He was in awe as I held them and asked me not to drop them and I didn’t.

Just a little boy sitting on a porch staring up at men working with such awe. If you did not know my grandson really loves power poles, he draws them all the time. He is just transfixed with them, wants me to take him down the street to touch them.

Never seen a kid so crazy about telephone poles. The other day I explained to him where electricity comes from, from the water passing through Bonneville Dam up in Washington down those great BIG power metal poles we see when we go bike riding.

We’ll have to work on that one.

Happy Days!
