Welcome. :o)

I answered earlier, but I guess it didn't go through. Trying again

for the third time, but summarizing a bit.

That is very normal for OCD. Irrational thoughts and needing to

confess are part of it. And no, you aren't being over anxious.

Our experience has been that OCD changes, yet some things stay the

same too. Our son is now 16, but also has dealt with sensitivity

issues. He outgrew some, but still deals with some too. Although

we've never tried it, some here have had good results with

occupational therapy for it.

If you haven't yet, reading up on OCD can help immensely. Some books

we found very helpful were:

What to do when your Child has Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder by Aureen

Pinto Wagner Ph.D.

Freeing Your Child from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder by Tamar E. Chansky

Helping Your Child With Ocd: A Workbook for Parents of Children With

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder by Lee Fitzgibbons and Cherry Pedrick

Talking Back to OCD by March

The last two are workbooks that walk you through CBT and ERP

Finding a therapist who knows and understands CBT (cognitive

behavioral therapy), specific to OCD, and ERP (exposure and response

prevention), is a must.

Glad you are here.

> Hi I am brand new, I have a 10 year old son who has always been

quirky...as a toddler he hated socks, labels etc, would only drink out

of one cup, wouldn't eat anywhere other than home due to fear of

germs, contamination etc, minor handwashing thing, but has grown out

of these things enough that it doesn't bother him...but over the last

2 months has been complaining about intrusive thoughts, about all

kinds of things especially sex, suicide, he knows that he is being

illogical and that these things don't make sense and he feels that to

relieve them he has to tell me, but then worries all day at school

about telling me. We haven't been to a dr, have an appt next

week.....are these things normal, or is there more to it? Am I being

over anxious?
