Age old question for new FP grands: IMP and OB

Hello All,

I'm a 3rd year FP resident in Tucson, AZ and just had the pleasure of

hearing Pamela Wible speak.... last week. And I've already got a

number of bookmarks in my new IMP tab on my browser, and this listserv

is certainly filing my new IMP mailbox quickly! :)

I'm wondering if anyone out there with an IMP does any OB. I love it,

and I would hate to give it up, and am just starting to feel out the

background work that would be needed to create necessary alliances to

ensure proper back up, work out true malpractice rates for the area,

etc etc.

But I need to know it's possible before doing any more work. :)

Anyone? I feel like there must be a past thread somewhere on this

topic--can you direct me to it?

Thanks,

Jessie

I believe Promenko is. He's on the IMP map. Don't see him much on the list serv but he is IMP. You could contact him via his web site.

Hi Jessie! Looks like you are planning your ideal practice

WELCOME! . . . .

Glad to have you on the list. Regarding OB- I would try to find

any FP in private practice in the city or state you plan to work

in who do OB. Go hang out with them and sniff it out.

See how they do it. Any FPs not associated

with the U doing OB?

How are the residents recovering from the adventure last week?

I loved hanging out with you all on Friday morning. I think we

went 5.5 hours with one 5 minute break.

Pamela

Hi! I have done OB for the past 18 years (gads, has residency really been that long ago?). Went IMP 2.5 years ago. Recruited my husband 6 months ago (he doesn't do ob nor do any of the other 6 family docs in town). The 2 ob docs cover for me when I'm OOT. Have missed 3 deliveries in the last 2.5 years. My numbers are a lot lower than they were before becoming an IMP. My former partners refuse to refer to me and send all their pregnant moms to the ob's. I average between 20 and 25 a year now, down from my insanely high 75/year when I first was out of residency. Feel free to contact me by email or phone if you would like to talk!

Hi Lynette,I'd love to hear more--I'm supposed to be searching out different career options for an assignment for the residency program. I know I have another year of fellowship so engaging in this task has been difficult for me, especially when none of the job opportunities in Tucson appeal to me (since my husband and I are looking to stay in town). Is e-mail or phone easier for you? I'll be busy drafting up my questions for either! :)JessieHi! I have done OB for the past 18 years (gads, has residency really been that long ago?). Went IMP 2.5 years ago.
