That is the COOLEST thing I have ever seen.

If I told my sister in law about this I would probably get a package in the

mail. She's that way. She's the reason I have my Flip.

Once, about 10 years ago, I was talking to her about food processors.

Do you know that one week later I got a package in the mail and it was a

Bravatti food processor.

I could not believe it.

She is really something special, my sister-in-law.

I can do this with my Champion Juicer, and it works a charm, but the price is

great on this, and so are reviews, so I thought I would share it with my fellow

gadget divas! Summer is coming, and this looks perfect for it, lol

The Champion is a workhorse for these sorts of concoctions. I used it

for baby food WAY back when and now I use it for anything puree-

like...I am so anxious to try frozen fruit in it....I cut up mangoes

and blood oranges and plums the other day and froze them on cookie

sheets and just tonight I put then all in freezer bags so I can pull

out a few pieces at whim. I always have a few bananas frozen to use

for smoothies in the VitaMix

The omega juicer makes banana (and other frozen fruit) ice cream just like that.

That is why I got it. So now I make fruit sorbets, juice (wheatgrass, fruits,

veggies), and sprout juice!

I got it on amazon for a good deal and it is warrantied for something like 15

years.

It also makes pasta-I will eventually give that a go, but at the moment, we are

still eating our way through the pasta I stocked up on during the last shop rite

can can sale :)

Again, sounding quite alarmingly like a sales lady

My husband doesn't know about ANYTHING in this house. I once asked him " Who do

you think cleans the house, does the cooking, washes the dishes, puts away the

clothes, etc.? "

His reply: " the Fairies?? "

We both burst out laughing.

Off Topix but FUNNY!!!

It's absolutely fascinating how,as I have gotten older, I have TURNED INTO MY

MOTHER.

That woman was 5 feet tall, red hair, blue eyes, NOTHING LIKE ME, and never

stopped cleaning. To say I was not like her is putting it mildly.

But since I learned to sprout and changed my lifestyle completely, I don't know

how to explain this and maybe it's an OCD thing but I can't take a shower and

not CLEAN THE WHOLE BATHROOM.

I can't have dishes in my sink and GO TO BED.

And God Forbid Alan leaves something in the sink and I wake up and they are

there?? I don't yell at him but it bothers me.

I make sure everything is where it's supposed to be. I built Sprout Shelves. I

BUILT SPROUT SHELVES FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!!

What on earth is happening to me at 63 years old? And what will I turn out to

be at 70?

If I make it!!! Well, I better make it.

Who is going to take care of Alan?

Yesterday is a good example of how I operate. I was about to leave my house at

7:30 to join up with my friends for breakfast. The little lady downstairs

contacted me saying " I smell gas "

I said YOU SMELL GAS??? I ran downstairs and I smelled gas.

These people speak NO english whatsoever and the landlord was away yesterday.

So I phoned 311, spoke to several people and in 5 minutes flat there were 2

firetrucks, the fire chief's van, and all kinds of people in front of my home.

One of the firemen went to the fire hydrant in front of my house and opened the

water. I started yelling " there's no fire, there's just a gas smell " . Some

TALL fireman comes over to me and says " let the man do his job " . I led all of

them to the downstairs apartment and soon it was filled with 7 foot tall

HANDSOME firemen with pick axes and shovels and using their meter to read for

GAS. We all heard the HSSSSSSS and I went " oh, there IS gas "

The two little people thought the firemen would use their pick axes and break up

everything. I explained that this was not the case.

They closed the stove and I translated to them that " no more cooking until this

matter is resolved " .

Well, all they heard was NO COOKING. The look on their faces was priceless. Do

you know what Italian people do when they are over the age of 80?? They cook and

they clean.

She keeps that apartment brand new and she cooks up a storm. And they have just

learned that they can't use their stove??

I went back up to my apartment, found an electric burner, brought it downstairs

plugged it in and you never saw two happier people.

The stove will be fixed after the holiday passes but at least she can make her

pasta.

And naturally we phoned the landlord and explained everything.

I am determined to teach them English. Hey, if I can learn sprouting at my age,

they can learn English.

Right?

lol

LOL, they can with the right incentive. Our community has welcomed a

large number of Japanese people since the quake and nuclear scare (I'm

fostering a family) - the daughter in the family speaks English, but her

mother doesn't, and the two of them together attend English classes provided

by another member of the community. The mother is considerably older, and

tires more easily, but she goes diligently.

I wonder if there's an English as second language (ESL) class there. Thank

goodness she had you to contact!

Thank you Lorri for reminding me of his name. Kohler deserves all the

credit for what he does.

I was not aware of his gardening and raw food videos. I am looking forward to

watching them :)

Gil' s sprouting videos are so great. Anyone whi hasn't seen them should take a

look.

I laughed out loud at " the cats don't care "

they let you know when they do though.

The dog too. I must have dropped a few sprouts the other day and saw her put

them in her mouth and then spit them out. I think the cats were playing with a

long lentil sprout.

No kidding! My cats graciously allow me to live in this house. And if it

bats and slides on the floor, it's a a toy.

I sprouted something new, and I don't think I've seen it anywhereŠ. Cumin

seed. Definitely an acquired taste and a little strong, but if you like

Indian you might like a few Cumin seed thrown into a mix. I sprouted it

in with the long life mix from mel's -

He is my favorite guy to watch on youtube, with Melody of course being

my favorite woman on youtube.

Lorri in NH

I am beginning to wonder if I still need to put the NH after my name. I

haven't seen the other Lorri on here for ages.

Are you still around " other Lorri " ?

I just saw this post because yahoo stuck it in my spam folder, so I apologize

for the late response.

I have used frozen fruit like blueberries with the bananas, and I think I have

tried mangoes.

Someone actually made a video of the bananas with the blueberries on you tube

using the omega.

It would cut down on the carbs for you.

I LOVE jeera (cumin)! I had some tonight in my Egyptian Dukkah dip (not to be

confused with Buddhist dukka). Lol. I never thought of sprouting them!

For interested parties, here is the recipe for the dip. I like to eat a sprout

salad with it.

3/4 cup freshly toasted sesame seeds

1/2 cup coriander seeds (dhania)

2 generous tablespoons cumin seeds (jeera)

1/2 cup roasted chickpeas

1/4 - 1/3 roasted hazelnuts

1/2-2/3 teaspoons salt

Pound in mortar and pestle until you have a very chunky mix.

Serve with bread. You dip your bread in good olive oil and then in the Dukkah. I

sometimes serve Zaatar (another middle eastern dip) alongside it for variation.

I had this yesterday with a big salad that had handfuls of small leafy sprouts.

Being a vinegar nut, I also dipped the bread in the vinegar from the salad. I

used punjabi roti (flatbread) I got from the Indian market, but you can use any

flat bread.

I got the nuts from nutsonline.com and the spices I buy from the Indian market-I

use them often so I keep them on hand.

For this of you who are into frugal living, check out the Indian markers for the

best prices on fresh spices.

This sounds wonderful! I've started a new regimen which is going to cut

pepper out of my life for a while.. So I will be looking at new kinds of

recipes.

Cumin is strong, for me a little goes a long way <G>. Would be great with

dal, though.

Oh, yeah, I fondly remember Carvel. Had a friend at work a couple of years ago,

she was from Jersey, we'd go on about Carvel and everyone else wondered what the

big deal was. There's even frozen Carvel cakes at my local supermarket but

wouldn't bother with them now.

This Yonanas thing, though... I am intrigued. Watermelon sorbet? Berry frozen

yogurt? Chilled sprout-tomato gazpacho? I'm window-shopping similar machines on

Amazon now. New...gadget...pulling...at...me....

OMG, I just remembered going for a Carvel with my father. We used to EACH have

those double dip cones. One bottom, two tops, so we'd EACH get a vanilla

chocolate mix which means the left was one flavor and the right was the other

flavor. AND IT HAD SPRINKLES.

No wonder I was obese!!!!

ah, those days.!!!!

Now I have green stuff growing on my shelves. No one back in the day would EVER

BELIEVE THIS!!!

lol
