My son has been on Depakote for a year, and chelating since last summer.

With a seizure disorder, we were told to take it slow and careful. While we

have not had any seizures that we know of, he has been very stimmy of late.

This may have nothing to do with chelation (before chelation, he was still

having " preseizure " behaviors after ingesting seafood, fried food, canola

oil, etc...and he has been craving, and snitching, these foods a lot since

the holiday season.) We are checking his Depakote blood levels (since he

has grown) and rethinking his chelation protocol, trying 4 hour rather than

8 hour.

We've been chelating for about 8 months and my son is on the anti-seizure

med, Lamictal. He has never had a clear, obvious seizure (I think I may

have seen acouple 'absance'(sp?) seizures), but he had epileptiform

activity on an MEG.

We have had no significant challenges with chelation with regards to

seizure activity....however someone who has had clinical seizures and is

chelating would probably be more helpful.

I recommend you start with really low doses and slowly work your way up.

Good luck to you!

We are also chelating and on Depakene for elliptiform seizure activity

and abnormal EEG's. We have had no problems as of yet. I am curious

about the type of seizure activity for those of you with children on

anti-convulsants. Is it for an abnormal eeg and some elliptiform

spikes like my girls. I think I remember mention of this type of

seizure activity mentioned as a symptom of mercury poisoning?

Gaylen,

How long did you chelate to get this result? Did you confirm this

with a long EEG?

I've never had an EEG or seizure activity, but when I went to the NAET

practitioner the other day, I asked that she test brain function. She tested

each of the five vials. Brain 3 (temporal lobes) and brain 5 (midbrain) showed

up as compomised areas. Temporal lobes she said govern the emotions (I've

always had " easily jerked " tears). I felt my pulse increase when she teasted

that one. We treated for that 2 weeks ago. She said I'm her most advanced

patient and the only one for whom she has tested or treated the brain. Last

week we treated brain 3 in combination with virus as suggested in her book.

When I go in (and when I went to the practitioner in Sacramento) I usually

indicate what I'd like tested and nearly always what I ask about needs

treatment. Kinda freaks 'em out but they're open-minded and willing! Not

accustomed to educated/intuitive patients even in alternative healthcare.

My point being that in cases where mercury has settled in the temporal lobes,

decreasing the mercury load should help normalize the temporal lobes and may

thus diminish the seizures or abnormal EEG activity. Just a thought.

We'll do midbrain next time. I made some calls about scheduling aa " after "

Weschler, etc.

a, My son is six and we've done 5 cycles of chelation and are on our 6th

this weekend. When my son was 2 his EEG showed slightly abnormal spikes in the

left and right temporal lobes. We went to our neurologist recently and he

suggested to have another EEG done and that putting him on Depakote was a good

idea. The reason for this is because he is soooo moody and hard to regulate and

focus. I don't want to put him through another EEG again and also am afraid that

if we put him on Depakote (or any other drug ) that we won't know what's helping

him-the drug or the chelation. What are your thoughts on this and what are

elliptiform types of seizures? Oh, my son has never had a physical seizure, just

activity that showed up on his test. Thanks.

We have never confirmed my son's seizures with testing since by the time we

knew what to look for and got to see a neurologist, they were under control.

Since we didn't want to use medication and they were significantly reduced by

then, the doc suggested we only test if they get worse. They never had, only

gotten better with time and chelation. His was mostly the absence kind where

he stares into space and is unreachable for a few minutes, usually both of

his pupils dilate during them, twice only one pupil dilated. He's had four

occasions where he had possible myclonic seizures but these weren't

confirmed. He had the staring spells fairly regularly (a few times a day)

from the time he became ill, around 2-1/2, until about a year into chelation.

They significantly worsened when he was about 5-1/2 right after we did a

trial of ALA (higher dosage than is recommended in the Holmes protocol and

given only three times a day), a Nikken magnetic mattress and cilantro tea.

They increased to about 20+ a day, we dropped the ALA and magnetic mattress

and they decreased to about 5-10 per day. At this time, he was very sick,

barely able to sit up for long periods. After we moved away from the golf

course that was poisoning us and chelated for about six months correctly

(using DMSA), they had almost totally disappeared. Since then, he's had very

short bouts of the " staring spells, pupils dilated " off and on usually when

he's detoxing too fast. Now they only occur about 2-3 times every four

months or so, usually clustered within a day or two time period. The last

ones he had were the day after we had just restarted sauna treatments. He

had two very close together and then no more.

We started chelation on a 3/11 cycle in last week of November. So

about 5 cycles. Both girls showed high levels of lead. My youngest

also showed high tin. But also no mercury. So we have a long way to

go. So no current plans to change depakene. How long have you been

chelating?

Lorilyn, How old is your son? My son Evan is 6 and I've been to a

neurologist recently and

he recommended Depakote for him to help with mood disregulation and

swinging. He was on this when he was two but we took him off shortly

after as I was worried about his liver at that age. He did not have a bad

experience with it though. We have finished 5 rounds of chelation . Do

you think it's hard to differentiate what's helping your son, the

chelation or the Depakote? My fear is that I won't be able to tell what's

helping Evan. Also, do you mind if I ask what issues you were targeting,

thus choosing this drug? Oh, Evan also had a slightly abnormal EEG with

some seizure activity, although no physical ones.
