Guest guest
HI all, I'm and live in Michigan with my hubby of 13 years & we have 2 children. Our son is 12 & daughter is 10. She has severe asthma, severe acid reflux & She also has Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Right now she is on her 3rd round of steroids since January. She has been on many long acting inhalers and nothing is working for now. She was tested by a allergist and that particular allergist said she was allergic to Milk, Corn, Soy,Rice & Qunioa. They also removed Wheat, Eggs & nuts for a while. During that year (late 2007 to November 2008 ) off the foods she had not One asthma attack. We had to change Allergist due to him not communicating with me as he should have. I went to another allergist & he did a blood test and told me didn't have food allergies & he put her back on all them again. Within a month & half, had a bad attack and almost ended up in hospital. She had a hour long breathing treatment in the ER & was on a 10 day course of steroids. So that is my little intro of the medical stuff..... on a good side, is a competitive figure skater & has 38 medals from competing :-) I am a home care aide & take care of my friend with CP,now for 3 years, I am working 6 days a week for now until they can find another aide to help out. I can't wait to get to know you all & hear how you deal with the asthma Have a great day -- **** HEATHER **** Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." -Mother

Guest guest
HI Jan, Hope you are doing well. is almost done with this round of steroids & her peak flow numbers are still way lower than I like. On her meter, she is still blowing a 125- to a 175 IF she blows really hard & that is a struggle for her. I don't know what else to do for her, I think her Pediatrician isn't sure either. I guess we will come up with something Friday at her next check up iamatoughcookie wrote: Hi , I know I am late, but I wanted to welcome you to the group. Guest guest
Hi , If is still seeing a regular Pediatrician I wonder if it might be time to seek a referral to a pulmonologist. Depending on where you live, there may be one specializing in children. That would be a great match. I lived in SC for a while and I know that the Medical University of South Carolina (in town) has a couple Pulomonologists specialing in pediatric needs. Jewish Hospital in Denver does as well. I'd look up any children's hospitals in your area and ask if they have a pediatric pulmonologist. Best wishes! Mike McBrideDon't cry because it's over, laugh because it happened. Guest guest
HI Jan, Thank you.... hasn't been in the green zone since January, she can't get out of the yellow zone She has seen a specialist in the past, We are gonna see what her Dr says tomorrow I will have to ask for a new referral since I didn't care for the one we went to before iamatoughcookie wrote: Hi , Is the pediatrician seeing general pediatrician? Or a pulmonary specialist? I suggest the better way to go is to see a pediatric pulmonary specialist. Is 125 on her green zone? I hope you get answers soon. And I hope feels better soon.
