Guest guest
I gotta share this. Many of you know that I play handbells, and pretty well, I might add . Well, I am in a top-notch handbell quartet, and we were contacted yesterday to play for some ‘healthcare executives’ at the Broadmoor (famous old elegant 5 star hotel - $$$) here in Colorado Springs next week. Guess they are having a conference or something. As we got more information, I learned it is only United Healthcare executives – 40 of them – that we will be performing for. We’ve been asked to perform for 30 minutes. Now, think how much good ‘ol UHC pays you, a licensed physician, for a 30 minute patient appointment. They (UHC) are paying 4 handbell musicians…. ………………..$800 …………………….for 30 minutes! I can only assume the money they are using to pay us has to have come from insurance premiums. So they are using this ‘spare change’ from their insured’s hard earned money for 30 minutes of entertainment for 40 of their execs. Not to mention what the ticket must be for housing and feeding them at the Broadmoor! I will have to work REALLY hard not to open my mouth and just be a dumb musician while I am there, and not glare at them, but actually smile nicely. Talk about a game face…hopefully I won’t be bright red from anger being in the same room with them! GRRRR!
