Guest guest
Today I went to Eugene Toy & Hobby and bought my grandson Lucas a Polar Express electric train set! It has an 80 watt transformer the guy said goes usually for half of what I paid for the entire package. It just has more power to pull things than most of the sets did. I am excited because last summer I took him to the county fair and when we went into one of the buildings he discovered a model train set up with a town and roads and trees etc., and he really loved it and didn't want to leave. It was all set up on a big area of plywood. He said at the time he could build a town like that with the train and all, I told him I would get him one and now I have. The guy was really nice today at the store, it has been in his family for 75 years, and I told him my grandson had autism, and he was very interested in that and said lots of his customers had autism, he said one guy in fact, an adult, had a nice train set and told him he let it run sometimes for a long periods of time just watching it because it calmed his nerves. It can be a spendy hobby if it catches on though, sure a lot of things you can buy. I know one thing he does not like the whistle but the guy said he will be in control of that, if he doesn't want to hear it he doesn't have to push the button. I'll let you all know what happens on Christmas when I give it to him. Carolyn; happy and hope I stay that way because that was quite an investment on my part! ;0)
Guest guest
It was like he was boasting; " I could build a town like that! " He does build some really good tracks with the wooden tracks we have, forgot what that set is called. Used to have to help him lay the track and trestles and everything, but don't anymore. We have several engines two have a button you push and one just turns on with movement and he hates that one because the sound won't stop. I am thinking now that he has been given the power or will be given it on Christmas when I give him the train, and he will be able to make the sound stop he will like that. We shall see. I'm just worried about having to buy all those little houses and trees and such. Hay I just had an idea! We can use my Christmas village, he set it up and he loves it and has been asking if he can take it home. We'll just make a permanent town around his tracks! Perfect!
