Yeah,, had I had sarco before I treated, they might not have allowed me to treat,, but I believe, as does my docs that the sarco was caused BY the Interferon,, but so far, its not shown up in my lungs or heart but only in my eyes,, Im glad that IM coming close to my 5 year anniversary, it will be tested again in March Rick Kipp wrote: Per my Docs, sarcoidosis often dissapates on it's own, then hcv tx is a possiblility. I think she wrote a book about it –

you could probably either find it at your library or have them get it for you.

If you Google her, it should also turn up lots of stuff.

I had my spleen removed to prevent the TTP blood disorder that I have

from returning...it's experimental and optional and I had it done with

a laparascope. That was back in 1997.

I've had absolutely NO issues with it being gone...no increase in colds

or illnesses. The spleen was enlarged when they took it out which was

probably from the HepC.

The only difference I've seen is that my WBC (white blood count) is

always elevated but the docs say that isn't a problem...it's just how

the body makes up for the loss of the spleen.

It damages by proxy , lol As an example from hep c we get higher iron sats, then the high excess iron deposits itself into the heart , kidneys and liver doing bad damage to these organs . Also with high amonia comes brain damage .

Question

That was interesting what you said about your spleen being enlarged because of the hep. when I had a ultrasound a few years ago, I was told the disease had effected the lining of my gallbladder, does this disease spread to other organs?

I don't think it's a matter of the HepC " spreading " so to speak...I

think it just causes inflamation but that's just a guess. I know I've

read it more than once that the HepC can cause the spleen to enlarge.

When the surgeon first checked me before the surgery, he said it wasn't

enlarged. When he got in there and found that it was, I almost had to

do it the old fashioned way, no scope.

One important thing, as has been mentioned, definitely get flu shots,

penuemonia shots and one of my docs used to give me another vaccine

that children get...can't remember what it was for...another virus that

goes around.

Also make sure you've had your HepB and HepA vaccinations too. I had

to have them both and the HepB series never took...tried it twice.

Don't know why....

To answer the original question...YES, I did treatment 1 full year and

two more attempts after that and had no issues with not having the

spleen. I even worked full time throughout the treatment and was

exposed to all sorts of stuff.

No spleen, no worries.

Do you mean the Adult Clinic? http://www.advocatehealth.com/luth/services/other/adsc/about.html is too young, but when she turns 12 we will definitely start going there and hopefully when she is too old to go our Peds, that will be her new Dr. I have heard Dr Chicoine speak and he 'gets it'- a truly remarkable man and I have never heard any complaints, only good things from people who have gone there. However- I have yet to hear a good report regarding the clinic there for younger kids. I went once- big waste of time.If you go, let us know how it went! Does anyone take their young adult or teen to the DS Advocate in Park

Ridge Illinois? Are there any other locations that specialize in DS?

I must have been living under a rock but I just found out about this

place yesterday. Any info would be great. Thanks, Shirley

do the same people who get offended at religious posts get offended if someone says " God Bless You " when they sneeze?how far do they take their extreme views?

agreed totally. but I reckon that's because of something people have experienced that has turned them against religion. their loss.

, I've found that you can quote just about anyone, or anything

you want to -- but not the Bible.  I've discovered that even if you

are referencing the Bible as a simple book of a peoples recorded

history and the lessons they learned, some people's reaction will be

angry, violent, and hate filled just because you DARED to quote it

in a way that caused them to read a word or two of a verse.

No other book in the history of man causes such a violent reaction.

Even after twenty years of seeing it, it still amazes me.

YOU ARE LASHING OUT AT OTHERS FOR EXPRESSING THEIR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS. YOU SEE NO ISSUE WITH THAT?
