Guest guest
I told y'all before that I couldn't get my regular pediatrician or GI to help us and we don't have a DAN! appt. until December. However, we found a great new doctor who is willing to listen to us and run some tests. Unfortunately, the blood draw went horribly. After 45 minutes and multiple pokes, we only got a enough blood to run the Spectracell test. We could not do the regular stuff (CBC, Met panel, etc) or the IgG tests. We were also able to do a stool test through Metametrix. Anyway, our new doctor is a family MD who also is a holistic doctor. He is not a DAN!, so he is not very familiar with the in's and out's of biomedical treatment and autism, but he is willing to listen to us. He is glad that we have a DAN! appt. in December and is very willing to work with that doctor. Okay, so I need some help. We will be ssing the doctor on Friday to go over these results. My 3 yo ds came up deficient in B12, vitamin A, selenium, and his total antioxidant function. We already do Kirkman's CLO and have temporarily increased him to 1 tsp per day instead of the 1/2 tsp per day. We also already have selenium in the house because my dd is deficient so we started him on that. What do I do about the B12? I assume this doctor will want to do regular cyanocobalamin unless I can explain why we need to do the MB12. I also need to know what to tell him as far as prescribing it. Are there particular pharmacies that we need to get it from or can we get it anywhere? My ds cannot do gluten, casein, soy, artificial coloring, flavoring, or preservatives and is on SCD. Do I need to get the MB12 compounded? My dd is on regular B12 shots and she has the same restricitions and does not need it compounded. I have read discussion about some kids also needing folate with the MB12, is that correct? How do I know if my ds needs that also? His folate level falls in the normal range, although low normal (39% when it need to be higher than 32%.) If he is going to do shots, which numbing cream do I request that is okay to use with his restrictions? On his Metametrix, the most shocking result to me is that he has H. Pylori. This is really frustrating because he has been seeing a GI for 1 1/2 yrs and the man has never run a single test on my ds. He just put him on Prevacid (and kept increasing the dose up to 45 mg per day.) I can't imagine what must have been going on in my ds's body 1 1/2 yrs ago when he was obviously in SO much pain. We have weaned him down to 15 mg of Prevacid and he has all the above mentioned dietary restrictions. Any particular advice regarding the H. Pylori? He also has yeast at a +1 (not too bad), a positive result for a non- specific protozoan parasite, low in beneficial SCFAs of Propionate and Valerate, and a low pH of 5.3. Any more advice? I assume he will need an antibiotic for the H. Pylori. Should he go on an antifungal at the same time so his yeast doesn't get worse? Which antifungal would be best in this case? Thanks for reading all this post and for any advice you can give! Blessings,
