Guest guest
Please Please someone help me out..... > > I am at week 68 out ot 72 weeks of treatment. I am just on pegasys no ribavarin they had to stop that due to side effects. I have been undetected since week 18. They wanted me to contine 72 weeks since it took me longer to respond. My question is has anyone here gone through it that way? Has anyone done a taper down on pegasys, for example your treatment is 48 weeks then you decrease the dose after rhat for another 12 weeks and then end...rather than Just going from full dose to just stopping. I hope this is clear and I would really appreciate input. I am neariing the end of treatment and I don`t want it comming back. tHanks gang :0) >
Guest guest
I've really never heard of being on just pegasys and no ribavirin, but what do I know? They had me on 1200mg of riba and 180mcg of pegasys for quite some time but had to lower my riba to 1000 and then to 800 due to sides....VERY anemic and wbc's sucked. Did they try you on neupogen or Aranesp (Or procrit before the recall) for sides before they took you off the riba? I'm guessing that your labs really sucked and that's why he/she took you off of it, not just the "usual" sides. Everyone has individualized tx tapered to their own needs so remember that. I just came off treatment YESTERDAY so I don't know what effect that had on me being able to clear the virus yet (going down on the riba). I was on tx for 63 weeks (that's all insurance would pay as the standard tx for Genotype 1 is 48 weeks, I was lucky they paid what they did!). I didn't get negative until week 20 or so either, but my viral load went down considerably so they kept me on it. I've been negative somewhere between March/April of last year. I wish there was something that I could tell you to make you feel a little more calm about things....have you discussed your possible outcome with your doctor? Maybe (I'm sure) others will know much better than me what your tx outcome can be. I guess it would differ from person to person just like side effects do...Good luck to you and you will be in my prayers.Take care,Barb Z"because I can"To: Hepatitis_C_Central From: dklvt@...Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2011 10:52:29 +0000Subject: Hi everyone please someone help Please Please someone help me out..... > > I am at week 68 out ot 72 weeks of treatment. Guest guest
Yes I heard of that. My doctor when I took the second treatment suggested that we do that. To keep the disease in check. It is a therapeutic dose and will cause the body to continue to fight the disease through the immune system. I didn't do it because I wanted to try treatment again at a later date and was having some insurance problems. Didn't want to pay out of pocket for my meds. Too expensive, did that once and was a killer to my bank account. Course you guys know my story, I ended up treating a 3rd time and was in a clinical trial. Which I am going to find out next month if I reached SVR.
