HepC and CHRONIC pain

Hi everyone,

Ok, I've had several joint replacements and surgeries over the past several

years now....I'm in a lot of pain STILL and have always thought that the INTENSE

pain and aches was due to ortho problems...yesterday I saw my NP and my

GP....between them I have discovered that the joint/muscle pain is probably from

the HepC and NOT the joint replacements....my ortho keeps telling me that

there's nothing wrong with the implants and I keep telling him there is....am I

nuts or is the HepC causing the pain? I've read lots of posts from you all about

joint pain and never even thought it could relate to me! I was dx'd with hepc in

1993 so I'm not even sure how long i've had it...could be from 1980 by getting

tattoos...who knows? I'm 49 now as I'm sure most of you know from my previous

posts....

So if anyone out there can answer my question, please do so....I'm seriously in

a LOT of pain and it's just getting worse....not sure if this has to do with my

liver or not....I don't even know at this point if I have cirrhosis or

not....I'm getting another liver biopsy at some point in the next few months

probably, haven't had one since 1999. My doc thinks that I probably have it as

my platelets have been constantly low at around 50,000 instead of a low value of

160,000. Last biopsy showed that I had stage 4 fibrosis. Great.

So again, if anyone can help me with this issue of pain, I'd GREATLY appreciate

it...also if anyone has been cured after treatment, does the pain go away or is

it a permanent thing that I (we) will have to deal with for the rest of my life?

I've been given every narcotic under the sun and now am trying methadone for the

first time...for pain....maybe that will help but nothing has really, in the

past. Oxycodone helped a bit but that could just be wishful thinking, I don't

know. What do all of you do for the pain? I know I'm asking a lot of questions

but I need answers....and does the increasing pain point to more liver disease

or what?

I'd appreciate ANY answers to this as it's kinda freaking me out....

Thanks so much in advance!!!!

Barb
