Guest guest
Thank you so much for your advice. And sharing your story with me. I truly appreciate it........ Thank you. Re: Need advice on High school procedures. Should have specified on the end- my point? You need to do what is best for your child. If that means pulling her out of school during that teacher's time, then do so. Explain to the school why you are doing it, and that you are open to other suggestions, but until she's removed from his class, she won't be in school during that time frame. Some people might look at it as pandering, but 99 times out of 100, those people don't have kids like ours, and don't understand that it's not pandering when it pertains to your child's mental health. > > > > My daughter is in 9th grade, she is so fearful of her teacher now, because he yells at her, leaves her behind when they are going on field trips where she is walking alone. is very sarcastic with her. I cant even get her to get on the bus to go to school. i have been in contact with the school but no response yet. can i legally keep her out until this is resolved? can i sign her out of school, she will be 16 on saturday? she has autism, adhd, depression, anziety disorder, mental retardation, and diformaty in her legs. I dont know what to do. Pleassssssss help. > > >
Guest guest
I'm very sorry you are going through this. I don't have any answers but hopefully someone else will. Have you contacted your state Board of Education?

Guest guest
I agree- contact the board of education, and the state board of Special Education. Make sure you know what is in her IEP, and that it's being followed- if she's having issues with a teacher, ask if she can be transferred from his class. Lastly- when my son was in the 4th grade, we were at a new school in a new district. The 4th graders there did split classes- 2 teachers, 2 classes, but the classes spent half the day in 1 class, and half the day in the other class. It was to teach them how to cope with multiple teachers, and switching class rooms, because in 5th grade, they would start limited class room changes. Well, the teacher he had in the afternoon was fantastic. (This was before he was diagnosed as an aspie, but he DID have a dx for severe ADHD) If he looked like he was going to melt down, she had a reading 'nook' that he could go to, and read for 15 minutes, then re-join the class. The entire year, the ONLY time he had problems in the afternoon class was if he had a sub in the room. His morning teacher, on the other hand, was horrible. She ignored him, she didn't help him if he was having a bad day, she often had him sitting in the office. He was suspended 6 times that year- all but once was due to that teacher. That isn't counting the times I was asked to come down in the morning to pick him up because he couldn't be in class. I didn't count those times. Towards the end of the year, she stopped even pretending to have him in class. School started at 8:45am. 7 days out of 9 school days 3 weeks before school let out for the summer, I was called to pick him up before 10am. On the last day, I picked him up, told him to stop by both class rooms and clear out his desk. His principal was all " He's welcome to return, you know... " I lit INTO them. I was crying and yelling by the end. I simply told him that it was completely pointless to have him there for an hour a day only to have him sent home every day, and that I was absolutely done dealing with his morning teacher, and that I would in no way subject any of my children to her ever again. I wound up taking him to his PED the next day, and explained everything. Without asking what I wanted, he wrote me a note on his prescription pad excusing Chris from school for the rest of the year due to mental exhaustion and health problems. We didn't have any issues, he still passed 4th grade, and went on to 5th grade. > > My daughter is in 9th grade, she is so fearful of her teacher now, because he yells at her, leaves her behind when they are going on field trips where she is walking alone. is very sarcastic with her. Guest guest
Not sure what the laws are in your state but I think a 16 year old could quit school. Have you thought of an on line school to give this child a break from school.I going to stick out my neck here-my oldest nephew is very good with special needs people, brother with ADHD, cousin with autism, two other cousins with Rett, worked intellectual disabled kids during the summer program, befriended a local boy in high school to be included in his group of friends. He teaches middle school and plan flat out does not want special need kids in his class. He will tutor them, stand up for them will, teach a classroom of intellectual disabled kids but not main streamed. Not sure why he feels like this and it does make me mad sometimes. So please do not be so hard on the teacher work with them to make your child have a good school experience, find on from the teacher what you can do to make this right for the child. If the teacher does not want the child in their class for the child please have the child moved.
