In regards to the bad breath I have been experiencing i just found out that the omeprazole i take, 40 mg. every day, is time release. I remember learning that our DS bodies do not properly use time release medications. I called a pharmacist and she suggested Pepcid, which she said is not time release. I am now thinking that maybe i am just taking the wrong acid reducer. Besides the bad breath i feel food coming up my esophagus quite a bit and i have this very full feeling in my stomach like food is just sitting there and not digesting maybe? I also feel food in the back of my throat a lot. This is something fairly new to me all these problems with acid reducer/food, etc. Anyone else have any info on acid reducers and if they work. I told several people I would let them know about the vitamin D injections Dr. K gives. He answered me and told me that it is $25.00. I have no other information on what to expect, etc.

On another note, my daughter and boyfriend have been telling me my breath is very bad for the last year or 2 maybe. I see a new GI doc this Thursday and was going to ask him, but I mentioned it to Dr. K and he said it could be caused from too high fat, high carbs, and artificial sweetners. He told me to go back to basics with high protein, etc. I will try. Anyone have any comment on this.

10 years ago when I had my surgery, people would say gastric bypass when they were talking about RNY. I remember distinguishing between the two types of surgery, and the struggle to get the DS approved. Today, 10 years later, I see Dr. Oz doing a demonstration of how the "gastric bypass" works and the surgery he shows is the DS!!! Yeah! Finally.
