That sucks . I would also close shop and move on in that case. The neat part about threatening the other half of this equation is that they may very well reconsider after thinking about the options.

I am fortunate that I am partnered with my Father, and there is no "riff" between us as I let him do as he pleases. My thinking is that he started it, and essentially let me in it for nothing. Granted, I worked my butt off for years, and pretty much am the "top gun" there now. We have never discussed a buy out as he is only 55 (56 in a few weeks) and figures he will work well into his 60's. I think there will be no problems when the time comes, as both of us have benefited greatly in every aspect.

One thing to do should you find yourself looking is to become a "free agent" of sorts. Skilled workers are hard to come by these days in my field, and I am sure that is the same in your field. Apply to many places, select the few you could/would work for, and play them off of each other. One of my best friends parlayed a $13.50/hour job offer into an $18.50 an hour job, and is currently up to $22.00 an hour!

Best of luck, Kirk.

Hi

Lots stuff going on.Grandmas back in hospital geuss she was readmitted very next day Arggggg. Also my dad and boss are probally closing the company, although my dad is trying to keep the business operational.Problem is his partner wants to retire but wants way too much money(basically he wants to bleed the company dry).It has been 50/50 business from start,i can see why he wants a little extra but all Greed is an ugly thing EH!!! There are quite a few employees who might be left out in cold soo to say me included although im not too worried, theres plenty of work one of reasons my dad really wants keep company going also it is profitable(i told him he must have his own rights, his partner has been trying to pressure him into stuff).I told him dont get screwed if you havto just fold up he takes half you get half then maybe he can start-up again, least he wont lose any of his hard earned money. So i might be lookin for new J.O.B soon :) ohh well but i have been with them from start 15 years had do some math there :).The stress is soo heavy on my dad,it would probally just be easier to close shop.Take care. d.Canada Visit the Still's Disease Message Boardhttp://disc.server.com/Indices/148599.htmlThe materials and information contained in this message are not intended to replace the services of a trained health professional or to be a substitute for medical advice of physicians and/or other health care professionals. Hi, I'm Lori, 41 yrs old, I have 3 sons, 19, 16, and 9, My fiance has 3 kids, 2 boys, 10 and 9, and an 8 yr old daughter. His 9 yr old son is autistic. He drives a semi OTR, which means I am home with the kids full time. We have had his kids for 3 yrs now, ever since their mother, a drug addict, pretty much abandoned them.

I have to say I think I have adjusted to having a child with autism, but I don't know much about how to deal with certain issues. I recently got Cole out of pull ups (YEAH!!) Pretty proud of that one!! But now he has developed a new habit......POOP EATING! OMG I am not ready for this one! I seriously, seriously need some help with this!

Thanks in advance for your advice! ......Lori
