Pls don't let that freak you out. Speak to your child's Dr if you have fears but know that...Suicidal thoughts can be a side effect of most anti-depressant meds for teens. This is nothing new. All you can do is watch very closely for any changes in behavior, feelings, etc.My son first went on TENEX and it made him more agitated and aggressive and exhausted! But his twin sister is on it and it totally takes away her anxiety!Every child responds differently.LoriSent from my iPhone

O no my 6 yr old is on abilify ahe is autistic and also on adderal xl too

If anyone's child takes Abilify, PLEASE be very, very careful. My 16 year old son (he is not autistic) was on that, and his aggression became worse, and he became suicidal. It is one of the powerful drugs, so just PLEASE be very careful, and watch for side effects.

I was told by my son's shrink it was approved for use in children for certain dx.

I found this to confirm it. I am sure there are other places to also confirm it as well. Now that being said, my son was taking it long before he turned 10. ;-)

I agree. For us, the damage done by not having the medication was clear. That is the balance I had to weigh. The medication gives my child a chance to live without constant negative feedback from the world around him tearing him up on a daily basis. Yes, it gives us a new challenge, keeping weight in check, but it gives him a chance at a future that he would not have had if he had been allowed to continue down the self-destructive path his negativity and anger set him on.
