To continue - I'd explained we needed more medication to last til we

saw the psych to get a new prescription, etc.

I told the pharmacist how we were building up to 40mg Celexa.

And that tonight I was to increase it. So since we began with 2 tsp

and then increased to 4 tsp, I'd need enough for 6 tsp beginning

tonight to last until, I guess, Monday night. So to me that was:

1st week 10mg with 2 tsp, 2nd week was 20mg with 4 tsp, and now

needed 6 tsp to make 30mg.

(Here's where it began and I got confused! That pharmacist and

everyone else behind the counter now know that I HAVE NO SENSE!!

Though actually it's not quite all my fault)

The pharmacist said that was already at 40mg if he was

getting 4 tsp!!!!!!!!!

(I'm like " duh?!?!? " ) And as I begin to explain, then " I " get

confused. But I try to explain we began with 2tsp, then I got him up

to 4tsp this second week; then I get to thinking to myself " maybe I

should have had him on 3tsp???? and confuse myself!

The pharmacist said that EACH TSP WAS 10MG!! I said that the TWO TSP

WAS 10MG!! I asked to see the bottle as I'm confused. And he looked

it up on their computer and said that EACH tsp was 10mg.

I at that point just cannot think. (I actually had to wait til this

was over and back in the car to THINK and straighten myself out!)

BUT - I told him that when we got the medication and I looked at the

bottle, that I ASKED if 2tsp equaled 10mg and was told (I

thought) " yes. "

I had asked because the label read: " Take 2 teaspoonfuls every

day. " Then below that there was " Celexa 10mg/5ml solution for (no

words came after the " for " ) and also that I could refill 1 time.

So when we first got the med 2 weeks ago and I asked it was because

it said " 2 tsp " and the " 10mg " ; and I asked if 2 tsp equaled 10mg.

And I thought I was told yes.

Really, if they said " each tsp " I didn't hear.

has already been at 40 mg for this week!!!!! I began with

20mg not 10mg!!! Instead of taking a month to get to 40 mg, I take

TWO WEEKS!!

The " funny " part - here I am, the one who was EXTRA CAUTIOUS and

wanted to bring up SLOW AND EASY because this was the son who

had always broken out with welts/rashes as a child from unknown

substances and was the child who always complained of every little

ache/pain at times and had just had a rash for some " unknown " reason

and we'd just got rid of it.

So - I'd wanted to begin Celexa with 5mg (1 tsp the first 2 nights),

then up to 10mg if OK, etc., and since he was doing OK, just kept

adding only 1 tsp the first " increase " night to make sure he was OK,

etc., then let him take the add'l 2tsp the 2nd " increase " night,

etc.

ME, the CAUTIOUS mom brought my son up not " slow and easy " but " fast

and hard " !!!! LUCKILY, still no side effects.

So I find it " funny " that despite my cautiousness I went way too

fast! (not on purpose) And I count and me lucky he was fine

(apparently not so delicate as I thought!!! I can just pour meds

down him I guess!).

BUT now I have to explain to the psych on Monday that I need a

prescription AGAIN as I ran out because I got him on 40mg in 2 weeks

and not the 4 weeks the psych wanted and we've run out of

medication! UGH!!!

I left the pharmacy and went to my friend's home (the

pharmacist/friend I'd talked to earlier in the day) and told her what

I'd done. I told her NEVER to let me walk out of CVS again without

making sure I completely understand just what I am to do with any

medication!
