Guest guest
Following Mama Jo's "orders", I am both complient on my supplements, but on telling you my story. On Dec. 6th it will be my 6 year DS suriverserary. Best thing, other than my hysterectomy I ever did for myself. I did it because I was diabetic and they were going to put me on insulin and I was afraid I would lose my eyesight or my limbs. I had a sister who had lost both her legs and a brother who twice went blind temporarily, all due to diabetes. I am a single parent to a handicapped daughter, so I can't afford to be down. I had to take care of myself in order to take care of her. I lost 170 pounds. I went from 333 to 163 and have kept it within 5-8 pounds of that. I don't diet, I just know that I gain if I don't eat enough protein. So if I see the scale start to creep up I work on getting the protein up. I still have what I call my wall paper paste eating days, like when I will eat any and everything that gets in my way and not get full. Just nerves, but it settles down. Carbs are now and always my downfall. I used to be really big on biscuits and gravy and such. I gave that up almost 100%. Just don't like it anymore. I really try to eat healthy. I wake up thinking about what to eat and trying to eat what is good for me. Much more than before. It took a lot to get that 170 pds. off and I don't want it back. Diabetes was gone from the day of surgery, same for my cholesterol and triglycerides. My labs are good, except for being anemic. Always have been, guess I always will be. I am taking Proferrin now and we will see when my next labs are taken if it has made any difference. I am taking it daily. I was taking it hit and miss. I have had a problem with dehydration a little bit on occasion, but again, that has been a lifelong habit of not drinking enough, especially water. I only want to drink my sweet tea. I do make it with Splenda though. I used to be on a lot of meds, and oxygen and CPAP. That's all gone. I am on some meds, come on, I am over 70 and have severe neuropathy and thyroid disease. So I have to take some meds. Most of my hand full of stuff is vitamins, calcium, magnesium, and such. I watch and read all the latest research Jo and Vicki do for us and I do a lot myself. I want to be around a long time too. Also, I am known for being a long winded writer and talker. With that being said. Welcome to all the newcomers, and Hi to all the rest of my friends out there.
