I also had quite abit of weight loss, about 30 lbs. I was down to 98 lbs and looked horrible!

The doctors have no idea why, like everything else.

Let me preface the post by saying I have

not personally seen her. Two different people that I met through a co-op

have recommended her. In my opinion, her credentials seem quite

impressive. I get the impression that she is very thorough. According

to one of the referrals, she charges $45 for an hour consultation. At

this point, I am willing to invest $45 to see whether she is someone I want to

work with.

This is what one of the references said:

Dr. ee Surprise in Denton

for over a year. She has been a nurse, chiropractor and now holds a

Fellow in Nutrition. Her prices are VERY reasonable (because she

understands most insurance won't cover this) with 1 hr visit being $45.

She is easy to get an appointment and to reach on the phone. Phone #

I googled her. This one has her

credentials:

http://www.nwhealth.edu/conted/seminars/biojuanee.htm

This one is her office:

http://www.familymedandchiro.com/

I am waiting until after I see Dr R again

so that I have my current labs available.

I have had trouble eating low carb, too. In the last months before going to see

Dr. , I tried to lose some pounds, yet again, and lowered my carb

intake, not to the lowest Atkins starting level, but maybe 75 grams per day. I

crashed really badly after a week. Incredible shut down of appetite on top of

it.

Sugar is still a problem for me. The tricyclic a-d med I take really drives the

sweets cravings. I think the a-a med does too. Wish I could be rid of them. I

try to substitute Splenda sweetened products as much as possible, which helps a

great deal. But the cravings still build up. And my DH can only go so long, too,

without having something. Lately we've been falling back on breads, rice and

potatoes to get calories in on time. Just can't fix and eat the 5-6 smaller

meals during the day.

I know another key is portion control, but I seem unable to care right now. I

lost 10-15 pounds in a couple of months every time I counted calories, but

cannot get it done.

I will be interested to see how you do with the triglycerides having been on WW.

I have also had success in reversing my lipid panel except the tryglycerides,

which is blamed on carbs.

Thanks for your info.

I have had a much harder time giving up

the dairy more so then the gluten. It isn’t so much milk.

Almond milk and hazelnut milk are fine. It is yogurt and cheese.

Even the low fat Jarlsberg lite cheese swiss cheese sounds wonderful. I’ve

had a bit of dairy over the last few days and haven’t noticed much of a

difference. Maybe a bit more post nasal drip. Of course I don’t

knowingly have ANY gluten.

I’ve also had a hard time feeling

full. I’ve been trying to be more observant about what fills me up.

Adding a potato into an omelet really helped. I had a salmon fillet one

day for lunch. That really filled me up. I think I need more protein

but I’m not a big fan of eggs or fish. So I have a hard time

finding protein I’m hungry for. I’m ordering some rice

protein mix. Sometimes a protein drink would suit me just fine for breakfast

or lunch. Then I wouldn’t have to deal with the gluten/dairy/soy

issue at all. LOL.

Hi ,

My experience with weight loss is mixed. In addition to being hypo since

childhood, I guess I should add that I don't find low-calorie or low-fat diets

or weight-loss supplements to be credible.

Generally, I found that getting appropriate amounts of thyroid is key, but not

because it causes spontaneous weight loss.

It makes me feel better and feeling better allows me to move and with movement,

I can lose some weight. Movement for me includes mowing the lawn, and walking,

with aspirations to jog again.

In the time since my highest weight, I've lost about fifty pounds. But I am so

not svelte.

Recently, I experienced an athletic injury that severely limited my movement --

and the weight that I'd lost training for a big event earlier this year came

back. It can be crushing. So I can appreciate your frustration.

I'm in my 60s. I may be fooling myself to think that I'll somehow lose the extra

weight I picked up during the decades of inappropriate treatment (although Dr R

says I shouldn't define myself by my age). But I want weight loss, too.

I wish you well,

kidbobo

Dr. Keshishian is pleased with the amount of weight I have lost so far. I Had my

appointment yesterday with him and I lost another 17 pounds. That is a total of

50 pounds lost to date. I am not losing it as fast as others but I am losing

weight. I am have lost about 5 more pounds by pooping it out today. I can skip

having bowel movements for a couple of days but then the day I go is when I go

the most.

All Dr. K was worried about is my water intake. He will be ordering labs soon.

Yeah. Other than being my poopie day, I am doing great.
