Guest guest
Hi everyone, After a long time of explaining about OCD and the appropriate treatment for it, requesting E & RP Therapy as a Related Service in Chelle's IEP for the past 9 months, Chelle being tutored at home since June 2002 because she cannot get out of the house on time to attend school, the school district has finally realized that they can't avoid this responsibility any longer. Tomorrow, at the school district's expense, she goes to the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine for a re-evaluation (she originally was evaluated two years ago this month). Chelle, needless to say, is having some anxiety about this even though she is ready for treatment and hoping to be able to eliminate, or at least reduce, some of the medications that she now takes. I am having great anxiety about whether she will be able to get ready in time for us to keep the appointment. We will be scheduling therapy sessions twice per week for 1 1/2 to 2 hours and will see how well she can do the homework assignments (and how well she can get to therapy). We have been busy filling out scads of papers and questionnaires about her development and her OCD behaviors. OCD has put such a strain on our family life over the past several years. I can't believe that we are finally on the road to recovery. I'm looking forward to positive change. Progress, one child and one parent at a time. Phyllis ppepe40@...
