Guest guest
Hi Donna, cut out all processed foods because they are all extremely high in sodium, take blackstrap molasses supplements and eat 2 bananas a day that is a good start. I also only have raw organic milk and eat 98% organic everything (including my occasional bar of chocolate). Exercise is essential and a brisk 15 - 30 minute walk each day will do very nicely. Brisk as in a slight breathlessness but not excessive, if you have other health issues that mean you cannot walk briskly (I do) then walk for 45 minutes daily at your best pace. nne > Hi nne, What did you do to lower you blood pressure. > > Thanks > Donna >

I added tomoato juice and meat stock (unsalted) to reduce the sourness or added a few extra carrots. I drank nothing but pure squeezed orange juice and bottled spring water , high in magnesium. I ate bananas to fill me and bran cereal (unsalted). At least 2 bananas daily and for excercise, half an hour of warm up stretches and half an hour of aerobics to music to gently " out of breath " level. Last week I had a BP check again and my Doc was " very pleased " saying he was amazed at how much it had reduced in the short space of time. I had been having the heart palps and flutters and arythmas for months and they have so far ceased. I have noticed though, if I drink a lot of pure Orange juice they start to happen again, cut it out and they stop....not quite sure why that is...so I'm on bottled spring water again and cranberry and raspberry instead. Guest guest
Hi Cassey, I was most impressed with your regime although I cannot do aerobic exercise at all, I will look at the diet side of it because I am always open to something new. Have you checked what is in the OJ that you were drinking, it could contain something that is a stimulent. Celery is excellent and so are bananas for lowering bp, a banana smoothie in the morning and celery juice in the evening - perfect. nne > Hi Donna, > I too had high BP three months ago and was being pressured into using > medication from my GP to lower it.(I'm 44 with low thyroid) > > I took to juicing everynight and drinking 2 pints of juice with a range of > fresh organic veg, always being sure to include celery. > > I added tomoato juice and meat stock (unsalted) to reduce the sourness or > added a few extra carrots. >

Guest guest
The body is very clever letting us know what it doesn't like isn't it - although you say it was pure juice, they have to put something into it to stop it from going off - can you ear fresh oranges, because if you can, then it is the additives that are causing you a problem or maybe what is being leeched into the orange from the carton. nne > The orange juice was just pure juice from oranges,concentrated.....but I > guess I may have a sensitivity to it as a couple of times years ago, real > orange juice (pressed) triggered migraine attacks within 10 minutes of > consuming it......? >
Guest guest
Hi Ken, I cannot do aerobic exercise because I have, arthritis of most joints including the spine and athericlerosis (narrowed arteries) - walking and swimming are the only recommended forms of exercise for me and I cannot swim so stuck with walking. Please only add the raw egg if you are not elderly, young or pregnant and ensure that the egg is organic. My husband and his father always had 2 raw eggs beaten into hot milk for their breakfast many years ago. nne > Add a raw egg to the smoothie and organic vanilla extract to taste. Guest guest
Hi nne, Sorry to haer about your puter probs Get well soon!! The OJ is vacuum packed and then to be refrigerated when opened and they say packers state that nothing is added but as you mention..who knows what is in the waxed carton that leaches into the acid mix. Natural oranges were /are what trigger migraines so I avoid them now though I have never had migraines triggered by cartoned juice as presumably it is pasteurised? (Carton isn't explicit about that) I would like to know why though the OJ seems to prompt heart palps. Maybe the OJ acidity changing my blood chemistry? As you can see, clutching at passing thoughts here! Guest guest
Hello Cassy If you have low thyroid you should read Solved: The Riddle of Illness by Langer - if not at your library or local book store, you can get it new or used from booksellers on the web. There is also a newsletter called " Sticking our necks out " by Shomon who has also witten some thyroid books- I think it's on about.com, if not, it's yahoo Yes heart paps and other symptoms can be causd by overactive thyroid as well as underactive. The trick is to get it set to what is right for YOU. Not to their " scale " and that is the hard part. Doctor's tell you, well you are " on the scale " so it's okay. There are different scales but on a 4 - 12 1/2 scale there is a BIG difference between one end and the other. Serita
Guest guest
Thanks for the reading list Serita I will definitely look the books up. I felt that just replacing the thyroxin wasnt " enough " since so many other functions are controlled by the thyroid gland, not just production of thyroid. Luckily I have a doctor that lets me adjust my dose within limits and he will ask me what dose of thyroxin I " feel better " on. However I am never really sure. I used to be very highly strung and on the go all the time...I prefer to be more relaxed and able to relax. I can achieve this with a slightly lower dose. I have had blood readings done after both a higher and lower oral dose (after a two week period of taking that particular dose of thyroxin) and the blood tests have measured identical results. I feel sometimes I need more than at othertimes.....if the gland was working to demand naturally it would accomodate that demand. As it is, we are more or less on a similar input (from the supplement) daily. On some days this will be less than our bodies require and other days more than enough. Guest guest
Uneven heartbeat can be caused by an imbalance of magnesium and calcium since one controls the contraction of the heart muscle and one the relaxation of the heart muscle. I am totally petrified of water and avoid anywhere that has deep water, plus with all my health problems and weight gain, there is no way that I would subject others to the sight of me in a swim suit. nne > Also walk back and forth in the shallow end, about waist deep.
