Hi Melody: (sprouting guru!)

Where did you purchase that neat flat strainer showing in the below video? It

looks perfect for removing hulls.

Also notice your sprouts are longer than mine. I only use mason jars, is this

the reason?

I use a casserole bowl for larger seeds such as garbonzas, lentils, rice and

buckwheat but wasn't sure about using the bowl for things like broccoli.

The hummus I made from the sprouted garbonzas tasted awesome. The wehani rice

was great also. Did large batches, put the sprouted garbonzas into the freezer,

cooked the rice and lentils and froze in divided portions. I learned thru trial

and error the rice had to be covered with water in between rinses while

inprocess of sprouting.

This group is so knowledgeable with all the little tricks learned. I've sprouted

for a few years, very simply, do not believe in needing all the fancy sprouting

dishes/trays etc. but then wonder when some of my things do not look like

others. So I greatly appreciate all your input.

Thank you.

Martha

Cool Way to chop sprouts while de-hulling!!

I don't know where everyone is but it's Saturday and I hope you are all out

and enjoying the sunshine.

I made a new video.

When I make a sprout salad, I use sprouts (various kinds) as the base of my

salad. No iceberg, no romaine, no nothing. Just my sprouts, and then I add

whatever I want to make the salad.

But.... when I dig into the sprout salad, I don't want a mouthful (or clump of

sprouts in my mouth). I used to take the sprouts and chop chop chop in the salad

chef while I was making my salad.

Well, just now I was de-hulling my latest batch of radish and broccoli and I

said 'why the heck can't I do that in the water after I de-hull my sprouts??.

So here's my latest video.

Hi Martha.

That neat skimming thing, well I don't know the actual name but I got it in one

of the many ninety nine cents stores that are all over the place in Brooklyn,

NY.

So if I were you, I'd go to any store that sells things hanging on the walls,

like ladles, spoons, tongs, etc. You'll find this thing there. I have a big one

and the smaller one (the one in the video). When I saw that thing in the store

the first thing that came to my mind is " Wow, what a great de-hulling item " .

lol
