Guest guest
Hi All, We are having a lot of issues lately. My son is 9 years old. He is tantrumming a lot. He is banging his head, hitting his head, biting himself, etc. He is also hitting others such as myself. He seems to have a really short temper these days. The only specific differences are the increased tantrumming and aggression. He has also started sweating and showing some signs of acne. I have had his testerone checked and it was within normal limits. I know there are different theories such as ignoring the behavior (ABA) or using a firm no not allowing the behaviors to the extent possible (advice from my in-home trainer). I would like to hear from some others about what actually works for them. Colin is on abilify. We tried some other anti- psychotics and had poor responses to them. We tried taking him off anti-psychotics and had a fairly negative response. We are also using Melatonin lotion to go to sleep at night. It seems to be helping somewhat. He is not staying up at night nearly as much as he was and most of the time lately, he has been sleeping through the night. If you have some tips on how to deal with aggression & self injury, please reply to me @ houstonwilliams@.... Thanks, Crystal
