Guest guest
The more thorough testing will be with the child psychologist. Just make sure that they are well versed with Aspergers. I got a letter back from the study center saying something about a psychologist... He's already been seen by his regular pediatrician and a nuero-psychologist and they dxed him as ADHD and SID/SPD. Which doc is best for diagnosing Asperger Syndrome/PDD-NOS: developmental pediatrician, psychologist or neurologist? Thanks for any feedback :-)
Guest guest
You might want to check with your insurance and see where they want/ will accept the results from. If you’re paying out of pocket talk to the autism society in your state they might have good suggestions. Guest guest
You can go to a developmental pediatrician, neuro-psychologist or a psychiatrist . I took my son to a developmental and got the diagnosis in a reasonable time frame. I'm trying to get my son in to see a developmental pediatrician to find out whether or not he's on the spectrum. Guest guest
I live in the state of Florida and the school system (public) does not have to recognize the diagnosis. They will do their own to determine whether or not you son can function and learn in the mainstream, and that will be their only concern. Does he have an IEP at the present time? Thank you all for the responses - Does it matter for the school system whether a DX comes from a Phd or MD? > > > ** > > I'm trying to get my son in to see a developmental pediatrician to find out whether or not he's on the spectrum. Guest guest
, I feel your distress and concerns for your son. If you feel like there is more to what he has already been diagnosed with, then by all means, take him to a developmental pediatrician. It is imperative that we as parents stick to our guns; only we know our kids better than any doctor will ever know. And only you can keep the fight going. Don't give up until you are satisfied and your son is getting all the help he deserves. Happy Thanksgiving by the way and enjoy your upcoming weekend. Be blessed. Hi, : yes, he's been ARDed in as OHI for the ADHD and placed in a smaller class already. I know IEPs are supposed to be built on needs and not specific eligibility categories. I guess I was just wondering if it would make a difference. I'm reading conflicting things online. He's already been seen by a neuro-psych and she didn't even indicate that he might be on the spectrum, just ADHD and SID/SPD. He gets OT (school and private) and takes meds but we are still having issues. I just feel like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle still...Thanks :-) > > > > > > > ** > > > > > > I'm trying to get my son in to see a developmental pediatrician to > > find out whether or not he's on the spectrum.
