Guest guest
Kathy recounted: The UTI that got out of control, brought about a delusional state and landed her in the hospital seemed to bring Lewy on with a fury. *********************** Yes, my mom had an asymptomatic UTI in late June/early July that sent her to the hospital. In fact, it was during this hospital stay that our doctor postulated that my mom might not have Alzheimer's and Geri Hall (the nurse practitioner who posts on the Alz List) suggested LBD, which sent me to this list! I really appreciate all the support and input! I now give my mom a 1000mg cranberry capsule every day to stave off future UTIs. A cranberry capsule is far more potent than just drinking cranberry juice. My POA oldest sister said my mom should not take cranberry capsules and just drink cranberry juice but I knew my mom would never drink cranberry juice every day and certainly not enough to be the equivalent of a cranberry capsule so I give the capsules to her anyway! She was SO out of it with the UTI, an experience I hope never to repeat! carol

She would be so distraught she would chose not to eat until she just died. I wouldn't give her 60 days. We may as well begin planning the funeral the day we place her. I WILL NOT DO IT. my dad is same way, but i have a smart comeback for you when these kind social workers say that, ok sarcastic bitter comeback, boy, i am sure glad i am not your elderly parent, and then give a deep cleansing thankful sigh, that should give them something to think about sharon m a smile a day keeps the meanies away!!! laughter is a breath of fresh air!
