Guest guest
Hi. I am now thoroughly confused. I have owned MANY salad spinners. I have the big one by OXO, I have my electric one, and I have 3 that I bought in Telco. All of them have solid containers so when you spin the inside, the water drips to the bottom of the container and when you lift out the colander thingee, the sprouts (or lettuce) is dry. So how the heck did you get a salad spinner that has a container WHICH IS NOT SOLID?? You are hereby duty bound to CLEAR THIS UP. ROFL. mel > > Ha! I should say that Melody inspired me, that's the truth. > > Melody, you spoke of your thrifty salad spinner for sprouting -- well I was at the dollar store and saw a medium-sized spinner for $3. Great, I thought -- bought it and got it home to find that the container-bowl was also perforated on the bottom, not solid. So it needs to live on a plate for drainage. I had to laugh! > > Aaaaanyways (I'm from Brooklyn originally, sorry), I soaked up a bunch of mung beans and set them to sprouting. They really did great in the spinner, so thank you for that. However, I now have way too many for weekend use. I tried to send some to husband's biz partner but she was ill and didn't come by. > > I'm thinking mung bean kimchi now. Thanks for making me laugh, and for making me consider some new recipes. :^) > > Molly >
Guest guest
Melody, it must have been one of the Telco ones you mentioned that moved me. I already have a large, solid spinner that I do use for lettuce, etc., but that I didn't want to use for sprouting. Who would have expected the container-bowl to have big holes on the bottom!? Believe me, when I opened it, I was beyond surprised. Why would anyone manufacture this? LOL. At least the spinner basket was suitable for mungs, peas, peanuts and beans, and I found a plate that would be approp for drainage. I am heading out to the kitchen to cook for the weekend, and the mung bean kimchi is on the list. So I had to tease you, but I appreciate your ideas too. Guest guest
Oh, I have to tell you what I have invented. You saw my video on my new gadget The Salad Chef, right? I got it in Walgreens for $39.95. It does not come with a salad spinner insert (like the infomercial shows and that you pay EXTRA for). So when I am making my salads, I have to wash everthing first, like my tomates, any fresh veggies that I'm going to chop up, I like to put CLEAN stuff in the chopper. Well, guess what I figured out? I put a colander INSIDE the salad chef. Now I chop and I chop, the stuff goes through the blades and right in the colander. I take it out, run it under the water, and put it in a bowl. I laughed so hard. My colander fit perfectly inside this salad chef thing. This gadget has made my life SO much easier. You MUST get one of these. Guest guest
Since I have no idea what gooder means, I'll just tell you that I have mung beans sitting in my fridge. I never remember to make them. Tomorrow night I'll saute them with garlic. I Love stuff with garlic. mel > > You're gooder, too. > Beverly > Texas > > > Re: Why Melody made me sprout too many mungs > > > Hi Jane > > I am brilliant, aren't I???? > > lol lol lol > > mel >
Guest guest
Mel, you probably don't watch much TV. " Gooder " is from an orange juice commercial. ew Re: Why Melody made me sprout too many mungs > > > Hi Jane > > I am brilliant, aren't I???? > > lol lol lol > > mel >
Guest guest
EW: Right, I never saw the orange juice commercial. They also use it in a GAIN commercial. You have NO idea the controversy that is happening because some advertising companies re using the word GOODER in their commercials. I just googled it and HOLY COW!! Guest guest
Gooder is from a tv comercial my daughter saw. It means you're better than good. And I love garlic, too. Guest guest
Thank you my dear And guess what? I had such a bumper crop of sprouts, well, they are all over the place. That's no problem. I'll just put more in my salad. I eat this stuff at least three times a day. I just imagine it going into my body, going into my cells and keeping them healthy. It's a good way to imagine food going into the body. Mel > > > > You're gooder, too. > > Beverly > > Texas >
