Guest guest
Yeah, I tried to share mine with my neighbors, the woman next store started to dry heave when I showed her the SCOBY. Sigh. The one a few doors down just had a look of complete disgust. Ah well. I tried to share. :-) I just told them they shouldn't look in my kitchen if that grosses them out. LOL. _____ From: original_kombucha [mailto:original_kombucha ] On Behalf Of noric1989 Sent: Tuesday, January 31, 2006 11:39 AM To: original_kombucha Subject: Re: O. Woe. Out of Home Brew again. I think having a neighbor who brews kombucha is a wonderful way to learn and connect, for anyone. More than a year ago, I gave my neighbor a kombucha culture, and since then we've enjoyed many hours of conversation about brewing. While I keep my brews plain and simple, she loves to experiment. I once saw her " laboratory, " which included over 20 different kinds of brews and detailed notes on each of them! Also nice to know that there's always a source of a backup SCOBY. Way to go, MArge, for your caring and youthful spirit! And I do hope you find a " kombucha buddy " , too, as Margret suggested. Guest guest
You need to first hook them on Kombucha before ever showing the culture!!! maria. Guest guest
Most of my neighbors (and family for that matter!) won't even consider tasting most of what I have. When we made dinners for a family who just had a baby, the recipient neighbor expressed her surprise at how " normal " the foods were that I made for them. I made chili and chicken pot pie, lol. I really don't know what they think I eat. I suppose the surprise is that it doesn't come out of a box! My son (he is 7 years old) talks to other kids/people about the various things we have going on in our kitchen. He used to go around telling people his mom had worms when he was 4 and we had a worm composting bin, LOL. Kids seem more fascinated by the various things brewing than the adults. Adults look at him like he is speaking a foreign language when he started talking about SCOBY's and kefir and what not. He actually introduced it to a friend of mine who is an herbalist when he was 5. She thought it was a riot that he was schooling her in how to brew kombucha and kefir! LOL. Ah the things we teach our children.
Guest guest
I tried weak tea K on a couple of friends (weak tea as I'm new at this and wanted to see how a new SCOBY would form better than they have been in regular strength tea). Told them it was fermented tea as these friends like to drink, and they liked it. have told them the good it can do them too. Will give them more the next time I see them. Get them hooked on the taste before I show them how to make their own, and then give them a new white pristine looking SCOBY ;-) TTFN Sue (au).
