funerals and then schedules

As to funerals - Costco now sells caskets for a lot less than you would pay at a

funeral home. I, however, am donating my body to the Illinois Anatomical Gift

Association so that after I die, my body will be used as a cadaver by an

Illinois medical school. I figure it will be a learning experience for some

young medical student to dissect the body of a slightly overweight woman who did

not always eat healthfully and smoked cigarettes! After I am dissected, my body

will be cremated and can be returned to someone I designate if I wish to do

that.

As for schedules, most experts on dementia say that people with any sort of

dementia do much better with a regular daily routine and do not do well with a

lot of change in the routine. . .

Courage advised:

I would advise you to read the book " Stiff " so that you can add a few ground

rules unless you are open to all that is done to a donated body - some of it

may not be what you had in mind.

Well - I will read the book at some point but frankly (and I do not mean to

offend anyone), I will be dead so I won't know what is done to my body!

I am a happy camper today. I am selling my condo because I need the money

and I am never there anymore anyway. I finally got a semi-reasonable offer

on Friday, which I accepted but the bad part is that the closing is

September 30th and the people have to move in then, too. I was worried

about getting everything done by then but - THANKFULLY - I finally got hold

of a friend of mine who bills himself on his " business " cards as " Assistant

Extraordinaire " and he is going to handle all the packing, supervising the

movers and everything - for a fee, of course - but I will not have to deal

with packing, which I hate and will not have to hire someone to stay with my

mom while I am not here, which SHE would hate!

Carol, I don't mean to scare you away from donating your body to medical

science (its an important thing to do) but I would advise you to read the

book " Stiff " so that you can add a few ground rules unless you are open to

all that is done to a donated body - some of it may not be what you had in

mind.

Carol, that's a fantastic attitude you and have and I couldn't agree with

you more.

Congrats on the move.
