Guest guest
thanks for this CArla I appreciate itJean As mentioned by another poster, I also recently became aware of the requirement for fraud, waste and abuse training just recently. My understanding is that it is a national requirement for anyone contracted with Medicare Advantage plans (read further below). So, remember our discussion previously about being considered a participating provider by Advantage plans simply by seeing the patient and sending a claim to the plan? Does that make me a " contracted " provider? Below is the mention from my Blue Cross folks. I followed the link and found the free training at http://www.yourmedicaresolutions.com/pdfs/for_providers/provider_guide/medicare_advantage_part_d_training.pdf There is an attestation form and training log at the end that should suffice for all providers. In doing a quick websearch, there are clearly lots of other plans nationwide offering the same free training. Here is the language from BCBS:Organizations and individuals that contract with BCBSMT and Medicare Advantage to provide health, prescription, or administrative services must meet new Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) education and training requirements related to fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA). As a Medicare Advantage Organization, BCBSMT is responsible for oversight and monitoring of provider training. Providers are responsible for initiating, documenting, and including the education in annual and new employee training programs. The training must be completed by December 31, 2009, as required by CMS. About the TrainingProviders may choose to take the free training directly by logging onto yourmedicaresolutions.com or from another Medicare Advantage organization or Part D sponsor. You only need to complete one compliance FWA training program each year. Guest guest
Carla, Thanks for the info. I will have to re-read the contracts that just came in that are sitting on Steve’s desk more closely. Especially since my dad just signed up for one of those plans.
