Hi Mel, OK here's the hard bit ... how much have you lost in total? and how long did it take you? If you have lost say 5 kg and it's taken 10 weeks, then you don't have a thing to worry about. We are all impatient, but this is not going to happen overnight. It is going to take time ... you know, marathon not sprint, journey not race etc. So - like I said, if you have averaged out at about half a kg per week, then you are pretty much on target and you need to relax and go with the flow. If you have lost less than that on average, then it is a tad slow but you need to see how it goes for a bit longer and then jump up and down. If you have lost more than this average ... you are doing better than most and need to dance and sing and jump for joy. I know you said you were just venting - and accept that part! So I will say "hang in there" ... lol Now. Your goal

weight loss per week may be putting too much pressure on yourself. We say (in Canberra) half a kilo per week. If you lose more, it's a bonus. But the aim is half a kilo not a kilo per week. ON the other stuff, can I suggest you keep a food diary. Not necessarily for the doctor or the dietician, but for yourself. Be totally honest - no one is going to see it except you. Sometimes it seems like we are not eating and we are, and other times it seems like we are eating all the time and in reality aren't. so, do your diary. Include everything - water to chocolate, vegies to vodka and work out the amounts! The band isn't a diet, but just do this for a short time - say a week. Then look at it and assess the following: Are you having 2 to 3 protein serves per day? I think it's three if you are more than 89 kg and 2 if less. Are you

having regular small meals? What ever your surgeon recommends - some say 3 only, but I think yours is 3 plus 3 snacks. Are you drinking with meals? I don't mean the alcohol drinks here .. those tend to be sipped and generally don't push food through the pouch, though I guess it depends! lol Are you eating enough? There are various schools of thought about this - but if you are hungry, then perhaps you aren't eating enough, or aren't getting enough protein. Some surgeons (like mine) say it doesn't matter if you only eat once a day so long as it works, others say you must eat 6 - 8 small meals. You need to do what works for you. If you are only eating one to two cups of food per day, it isn't enough. Does the mousse have sugar in it and how much are you having? YOu don't have to tell me, but even with low fat, you may be having a bit of

sugar. I am not suggesting artificial sweeteners take over - most people know that I am very against artificail sweeteners as they can make you hungry. Are you having enough calcium/dairy? I will put up the dairy recommendations when I get a chance and have a look at it. Now - I'm not suggesting you go against the dietician. But - do the diary, be honest and then go from there. I will have a chat to Andi when she gets back and we take it from there. Perhaps you are expecting too much and not eating enough? Don't know. Beverlee
