Guest guest
I am a neurology fellow who is contemplating starting a neurology IMP. IMP seems like a great idea: keep low overhead so you can see fewer patients and spend more more with them and not get burnt out. I have not been a part of the " treadmill system " yet, so I don't have any experience with managing an office, let alone different EMRs, dealing with insurance, etc. I have several questions. 1) I wonder if you know anyone who tried IMP and thinks it's a horrible idea. 2) Additionally, is there anyone here who started an IMP right out of residency or fellowship? Is that a categorically bad idea? 3) Also, what is your percentage overhead if you take all expenses (malpractice insurance, rent, EMR, your family's medical coverage, staff, other big ticket items?, etc.) into account? Also, how many hours per week do you work? (since working more hours with fixed expenses will reduce overhead percentage) Also, do you employ staff?
