I know how hard it is, Jo because I still salivate when I see a Diet Pepsi truck go by. I never took the first drink of it, but I want to do so. One thing that saved me I think is that I always drank it caffeine free and so I didn't have that to contend with and I am not a coffee drinker. I only eat chocolate at Halloween if it is milk chocolate as none of it tastes good to me.

But, I have gained weight this summer and I know it is a lack of exercise, a tendency to graze, and having 2 to 3 protein drinks per day. Also, I was gone a lot this summer. I remember Dr. Keshishian saying that a protein drink is a meal replacement and should not be an addition to a meal. And while I have a protein drink for breakfast only I have been adding a couple tablespoons of frozen orange juice concentrate to it and I know the OJ is sugar laden. My weight goes from 148 to 153 depending on what I do. Do I care, well, not that much but I do a little. I would like to weigh 138 because my total knee replacements weigh 8 pounds more than my old knees did. Do I fill out my size 10 jeans a little more - yes! My size 12's are way too big but the possibility is always hanging there waiting for it to happen. On top of that I am under 5' tall so every pound shows somewhere. A doctor told me I could easily weigh 100 pounds and be fine. No way in hell that is ever going to happen.

I am thinking of volunteering at a local grade school near an Indian Reservation in our district. I was an Early Childhood Education Specialist in a past life for 20 some years. I heard that the 5 and 6 years old can't even recognize their letters yet. I thought I would try and help if they will have me. I figure if I can get out of the house (I am a nester) than I wouldn't be grazing.

My husband made the best chicken curry salad tonight. It was yummy. Gotta love that guy!
