Before I Had the DS and was taking all the vitamins I do...I would get upper

respiratory infections all the time. I'd cough for months, to the point that

I'd be coughing up blood from tearing my esophagus from the violent coughs.

Since the DS and taking vitamins..I'm thinking, especially the vitamin D...I

almost feel like super woman. The world around me gets colds, flu's and such

but not once have I had an upper respiratory infection. Amazing.

I have my hubby on a once a week vitamin D3-50 and he is sailing thru flu

season.

I always feel a bit nervous saying outloud I haven't been getting sick because I

worry the evil fates will come seek me out..lol...so knock on wood. How about

the rest of you. Sicker than usual since DS, Less sick, never sick...about the

same??? And what is your vitamin D intake?

Mine...50,000 iu's daily--never sick (you know...colds, flus...)

Hugs

Jo

I guess I never thought about the connection... I have gotten a couple of colds, but they last only a day or two. I used to get bronchitis after every cold and it would last for weeks. I take 50,000 d3 daily. I don't think I'll ever stop!

I haven't been sick much either in the last several years. I thought it was due to moving

from CA to FL..The difference in climate..I have mentioned it to my friends that I don't seem to have the 2 yearly colds I had back home.Something to think about!! So Its not the move.. I have had crazy fevers that were returning every 3 weeks or so a few years ago. I never knew what caused those? Then again during Christmas this year I had 4 day fevers and got 3 of those over a months time.. I believe for me its stress..And that house we lived in was a temporary house until we could finally move into our new home..That house had mold and the air in the house was off.. But overall I don't get sick as often. And if I do they don't hang on as long as they used to..

I have just started taking D3-50 50,000 IU. I was taking D3-50 5,000 IU.I was taking 1 of those twice a day. With the higher doesage of the D3 I will see if I continue to avoid the colds and flu's..

It's great when Jo asks a question and we all respond.. It takes me out of lurking and actually writing in..It's always interesting to read everyones responses...

:)

Bonnie...interesting isn't it! For me... I'm on D3-50 for life...or till a lab

test tells me different. I need to work on upping my Magnesium to support my

vitamin D and Calcium intake. After some research I discovered that my

magnesium was Magnesium Oxide and that is the worst kind...so I'll be replacing

that soon.

I also found out that Magnesium Citrate was good...but it also comes with the

side effect of loose stools, which I don't need....but it could be helpful to

those that Calcium and Iron is constipating them.

So for ME...Chelated Magnesium would be the best option. Superseded it is also

more expensive. But it absorbed well and not " as " loose stool causing. So

that's the one for me!

Very interesting! The move or the Vitamins?? Find a sickly person and start

shoving D down them, then report back to me if you cured them...lol...ok?!?!

When...and eventually it will happen...I get sick, I'm going to UP my

D even higher for like 3 days straight. I read it can shorten the flu. So for

me I'd go from 50,000 iu's to 150,000 for 3 days...then drop back to my normal.

A " D " Boost. Plus I'd give the D some of it's tools to work with...Mag., Zinc,

C....

I've read that many of the kids who died from the swine flu was low on vitamin

D. This is some serious stuff...If some vitamin D could have saved those

children.

Just catching up here...

I didn't know about the magnesiums. The one I'm taking is the oxide, of course. So I will have to find the chelated kind. The oxide does have the loose stool effect on me, so maybe I'll get a double benefit.

Thanks for the info Jo.
