Guest guest
What is your name? Kim How old are you? 27 Where are your from? (you--Sorry, I used to teach high school English-- I'm an involuntary proofreading machine)-- I'm from Arkansas, currently living in NW Arkansas, but will soon be moving to (gasp) Orlando, Florida. Tell us a bit about your family (spouse, kids, pets, etc.): My husband and I have been married for three and a half years. We first met when I was 14 (married at 23)! My only " child " is my miniature pinscher, , who is the biggest bundle of mischief and affection you've ever seen. We expect to start a family before too long (in 1- 2 years or so...), but for now, she is our supremely spoiled baby. How long have you been doing Tae-Bo? Only since January-- I started w/ some friends, but they wimped out on me in March. I finally went out and bought some tapes of my own so I could persevere whether they chose to or not! I joined the group because I was looking for some motivating and knowledgeable friends to encourage me and keep me accountable. What tapes do you have? Just the old studio Basic, 8-min, & instructional. Enough to get started, I guess. I started on my friend's basic live tape, and that seemed a lot tougher than this basic, but it's still a pretty good workout... What are your fitness/weightloss goals? I'd like to lose 60 lb.-- but really I just want to be fit and energized and not self-conscious about myself. Moving to Florida is going to be a real struggle otherwise (right now I can't even bring myself to wear shorts in public). Self-discipline is one of my major weak character areas. I want to become a more disciplined, purposeful person. Because my appearance/weight is such an area of insecurity for me, I figure it's good to tackle this area first in my pursuit of a more disciplined lifestyle. What results have you had so far (both physical and metal)? When my buddies and I were consistent, I felt a HUGE jump in my energy level and some change in my body-- I'm not sure if that's still there or not. I want to do the 21 DC asap (is it just that you pledge to do tb every day? Or is there more to it??) to jump-start myself and make it a habit. I'd love a partner(s) in the challenge, by the way! What do you like most about Tae-Bo? The energy level boost. What do you like least about Tae-Bo? The music in the studio version is horrendous... also trying to keep my balance on certain moves (for example: how the heck can I do a set of one-legged ab crunches if I can't stand on one leg for more than 10 seconds at a time??). What other exercises/activities do you do? I swim when I can, but mostly just walk. What are your hobbies/interests? Scrapbooking, old houses, photography, and writing (I just started a journal again) --- also canoeing, gardening, and cooking. What would you like people to know about you? My husband is a campus minister for a Christian student organization; I currently work as a secretary... um... nothing else, I guess. If you're interested in a challenge, PLEASE come to the iVillage.com Tae-Bo Board at http://boards1.ivillage.com/cgi-bin/boards/fbtaebo. We have a new challenge starting on May 28th. We had one a few weeks ago but almost everyone dropped out and I sprained my ankle on Day 21 (it was a 30 day challenge). It wasn't Tae-Bo related. I tripped over one of my son's toys and fell down the stairs. Good luck!
Guest guest
Hi Kim...Welcome! You will find lots of support & encouragement here. I've been on this list for about 3 months and am really starting to feel that exercise is part of my life now, not just a quick fix or part of a fad diet. I've just started scrapbooking in the past couple of months. I didn't realize how messy it was!! I'm also doing my books in phases...put all the pictures in, then do some journaling, then add borders/stickers, then work on the cover, etc. Right now I have 4 books " in progress. " Welcome, again! > What are your hobbies/interests? Scrapbooking, old houses, > photography, and writing (I just started a journal again) --- also > canoeing, gardening, and cooking. And I rarely notice mine or others typo's, I've never noticed that " your " there, in all the intros that I've seen. Anywho, back to your answers....glad you decided to give it a try even when your friends droped out. We're here to support you )!!!!!! Hope you enjoy Florida. A lot of us are here for motivation and being accountable! But believe me, at some point, everyone is a motivator, and everyone can become an inspiration! Kim, Welcome to the group! Yes, the music from those original tapes is pretty bad..LOL! I'd definitely recommend investing in some Live tapes..you won't believe the difference As far as the balance thing goes.....it will come! For now, feel free to use a chair to help you keep your balance! Gradually, you will depend less and less on the chair until finally, you are able to do the whole set without falling over..LOL! Good luck! I look forward to hearing about your progress

I know I'm way late in welcoming you, but better late than never, right? When are you going to be moving to Orlando? I'll be there for a conference for a week in August. Will you be there then? If so, maybe we can meet and chat about Tae Bo. Moeser Halfway to Crazy, the Journal of My Life http://www.ericmoeser.com
