Hi,

My son is 11 year old now.He has SSI since he was 4 years old. I just got an application with SSI filled out. They need papers from doctors showing that your son has a disability and your family income will count too.I'm very low income making 13,000.00 a year for a family of two.I do have a review every year with SSI to see if we still qualified and was pay correctly.

Good Luck,

A.Simon,

I haven't been as faithful as posting as I should be.....

However, now it is official my son does have autism - we took him to Dr. Hobbs and we were diagnosed on Friday - I am not surprised or shocked but at times I go through sadness - at least I was aware that there was a problem - my husband didn't so I think it is probably a bit harder on him.

Dr. Hobbs recommended OT therapy through Babie's can't wait - however beyond that he didn't or wouldn't recommend anything - I asked him about changing his diet, no vaccine (I know that is all our choice).

At this point - though, should I start to take him to his normal pediatrician? Do I need to find a "developmental" one? What should I do - I am going to apply for SSI on Tuesday - we are trying out for the Beckett waiver, we found out about lekotet. What else should I do? I tried to make a appointment to get him tested for allergies but they will not do it unless a doctor wants it before the age of three. So I figured we would go to his normal doctor and beg them to give me a prescription, even though I can go anywhere on my network without permission from the insurance, so that I can get him seen. There has to be something else I can do for him - does anyone have any suggestions. Moderator and to all members, please note I am not trying to bring up the whole vaccine issue, I realize that we are all adults and need to make our own educated decision on that one.
