Hi Patti

Hugs straight back to you!

I never heard of Symbyax - but my dad died almost 2 years ago so times move

on and new stuff comes out.

The very first drug my dad was given was Olanzipine - on its own.

It DID help at first and he had responded well to it. For about 6 months we

had a 'plateau' - it was increased slightly to help with sleeplessness and

anxiety. However, I have to be honest and say that his Parkinsonism got

worse and his tremor more pronounced.

I don't recall hearing of Fluexetine - is it an anti-depressant? There was

talk of trying my dad on a member of the Prozac family but I have huge

concerns about that drug, given that I consider it catapulted my mum into

suicide.

In what I consider to be one of the gravest mistakes and biggest

professional misjudgements in his treatment, my dad's psychiatrist swapped

him OVERNIGHT from Olanzipine to Quetiapine (Seroquel) without any

dove-tailing or slow withdrawal of one for the other .... consequently his

condition dipped markedly. I was told this COULDN'T have been due to the

drug swap but I am convinced that it most certainly was!

Patti - please keep vigilant. Keep a note book and ask others to make

observations of you too. Watch for sweating and clammy skin, constipation

and fluctuating blood pressure (my dad's was always far too low.)

We're watching too!!! And holding your hand - tell us when we need to

squeeze tighter.

Hi Sally

Thank you for your response. I will indeed watch this closely. After

my first dose last night I slept till 8:30 vs 4 Am and noted when I

first got up my legs were like rubber going every where, but loose.

So that I definitely want to keep an eye on as I can fall so easily.

After walking to the B/R and doing my thing it seemed to quit and I

have had no further problem, but used my cane when I had to go for

another appointment today just to be on the safe side. So we will

see how I am tomorrow. My tremors have been very good today much

improvement I think. I did get sleepy for awhile this afternoon, but

have started doing that as of late I have noticed. This is a brand

new concoction they have come out with for Alzheimers I believe. I

will try to keep you all informed....Hugs...Patti
