Hi,

Thank you for your replies to my questions. My DD does see a

psychologist as well and we are involving both the psychologist and

psychiatrist in trying to determine if this is OCD and ADHD. I just

spoke with the psychologist this AM and she is going to to use a new

type of computer game/assessment which can help determine if a child

has ADHD or anxiety. I will give you all more details on this after

DD participates in this.

Yes, DD defiitely has ADHD symptoms. She blurts out frequently,

talks constantly (she talks more than any person I've ever met!!!!),

has trouble sitting still and doing any type of mental tasks. She

makes extremely careless errors on some of her papers. I can usually

tell when looking at her papers if she was focusing or not. When she

does not focus - her work is all over the place. If she focuses, she

has the ability to do very well. Her teachers also saw these same

behaviors and answered the questions very similarly to each other

(and to the way we answered the same questions about DD). The thing

we struggle the most with is if the ADHD type behaviors are " bad "

enough to have us medicate her again. DD is very articulate and open

about her feelings. She keeps telling us that she has not been

worrying much at school. This would indicate that most likely it is

not anxiety causing the ADHD type behavior - but it seems so

difficult to separate the 2. Also, I've heard prozac can cause some

of the ADHD type behaviors as well.

I welcome any other thoughts, suggestions or advice. I will keep you

all posted about our meeting next week and give you more details

about the computer program that may be helpful in the diagnosis of

ADHD vs anxiety.

Again, thank you all so much for your responses,

Anne
