Guest guest
I used to brew about 5-6 years ago and quit... Because I felt fine! Crazy, but since I was doing so well, I couldn't tell whether the kombucha was doing anything. Nowadays .. not so good. I've got some kind of bug that leaves me exhausted. I've narrowed it down to one of the following: 1. Sleep apnea 2. Chronic fatigue 3. SAD 4. recurring infection from prostatitis. Not sure which. So - in addition to working through the array of medical options, I've got 2 scobys on their way to me this week as well as 2 sets of kefir grains. Bought a juicer and a bunch of Vit. A, D, E, C - We'll see how it goes! Any insight from list members is appreciated! Dave
Guest guest
Hey Dave, Sleep apnea can be extremely serious. Have you checked this out with a doctor? See: http://www.atlantadentist.com/sleep_apnea_death.html Why I quit kombucha. > > I used to brew about 5-6 years ago and quit... > Because I felt fine! > Crazy, but since I was doing so well, I couldn't tell whether the > kombucha was doing anything. > > Nowadays .. not so good. > I've got some kind of bug that leaves me exhausted. > I've narrowed it down to one of the following: > > 1. Guest guest
Hi Dave- All four of your items could spell excess " metabolic inflammation " in your system (we think of inflammation as heat, redness, pain, swelling, but the term in quotes implies a body chemistry that " favors " sub-clinical inflammation throughout the system). I would be looking at gut dysbiosis (lots of bad " bugs " that excrete toxins that are absorbed by the system where they poison the liver and other body tissues) as well as a vitamin D deficiency (do you get much sun? do you live in a more northern location?) -- see the Vitamin D Council web site at http://www.cholecalciferol-council.com/ Vitamin D is being used by some practitioners as part of a treatment for prostate problems. Vitamin D deficiency is implicated in several types of cancer, including breast and prostate. The Vitamin D Council folks are leading edge vitamin D researchers. Also, do a search on vitamin D on Dr. Mercola's web site: http://www.mercola.com/ . Mercola has a lot to say on the subject and has featured articles by several vitamin D experts (mostly medical doctors). I've had chronic fatigue and SAD for years, and what's helped me the most recently is a very good colon cleanse from drnatura.com as well as increasing amounts of Kombucha. I'd also recommend a very good quality cod liver oil such as Carlson's (this one tastes pretty good). You probably know this stuff, but just as a reminder (and according to your " metabolic type " (see Mercola on this too)), eat lots of vegetables and some fruit (unless candida is a big problem), good, clean proteins, limited starches and grains (again depending on your own system), no refined sugars or flour, avoid soy like the plague (there's lots of information on this on the Internet, and most soy in genetically modified these days), and, of course, drink plenty of pure water. Well, I guess that's hitting some of the main points. Your list of steps being taken sounds like you're on the right track. I hope your health improves soon.
