Hi Stephany-just wanted to ask-this is what happened to my daughter on

Trileptal-her OCD nearly all went away but it seemed to free her, somehow, to

also let the oppositional behavior come back thru. She is not depressed at

all but absolutely more attitude. I have to ask the pdoc but do you know if

you go higher on the mood stabilizer would more of the odd stuff disappear or

would odd get even worse??? Thanks-Ellen

I'm not sure the mood stabilizer actually causes more oppositional behavior-I

think maybe our other one-Topamax caused so many ill effects, we were

ingrossed in that and didn't have the energy to be oppositional! A couple of

weeks ago when we first started the Trileptal, she was so happy that the OCD

was disappearing, we asked the pdoc if we could cut down on the

antipsychotic-she gasped no, not yet-I'll bet she had experience with what

could happen! Ellen

Hi, I tried to submit this before and had trouble. Hope this isn't a

repeat. did the same thing on depakote--no ocd but very

overbearing etc. I couldn't stand it. She does better on

antipsychotics as her mood stabilizer because they have such great

anti-agression properties. I have heard this happening on various

mood stabilizers though--just have to find the right one/right dosage.
