Guest guest
HI Carol, yes, you can have LBD and AD. Russ spoke/wrote about this and Peggy has saved the message in the files section. Have a read. My mom also had LBD and AD, and was on morphine for pain in a hospice type situation. She didn't appear to have any LBD problems from the morphine, but her capacity had been diminished considerably due to a seizure, so it is hard to say for sure. Some LOs here are on anticonvulsants for pain, Neurontin comes to mind, and I know there are others. They can cause problems for some LBD people, and I remember a CG saying they had to start on a very low dose and increase slowly. I don't know if these drugs would work for your mom, or if they just target specific types of pain, but might be something to consider. Take care, Peggy

Guest guest
I'm not sure who posted original about pain meds but I want to share what I've found with thru all the broken bones. - The biggest problem with her seems that after a short while - a few days to a week they build in her system blocking cognizance even more than normal. Most of the time one or 2 over the counters handle her pain. But I rotate a couple days Tylenol then Aspirin, then Advil, Orudis KT, the generics are ascriptin, ibuprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen - think I spelled them right - and covered all. Also when I notice her more confused than usual - maybe its my imagination but I switch her to distilled water but not within 30 minutes of her meds. I think it helps to pull the residue and seems to clear her up. I first tried this due to a conversation with a cousin who is being treated for extreme DDT toxins in her system since childhood. She has been effected to an extreme - consulting the major facilities in US that deal with toxicity Also I think the more confused she is the more she fusses(SP) about pain. The token pain pill and reminding her she just had one then trying to distract her helps to judge her true pain level. I've also figured out she can't tell muscle soreness from pain - rubbing her back and legs with " Sportcreme " which is the only creme we were allowed to use with my mother who had leg amputated and major circulatory problems relaxes her muscles and hence the complaint of pain Sandy (OH) Sandy (OH)
