Thea,I have only two books on sprouting--one is Sproutman's Kitchen Garden and

the other is by and Indian author. I doubt the library would have them. In fact,

the main reason I own them is because my local library doesn't have them lol.

Ann Wigmore has a book on sprouting that is a classic but Gill from

Sproutpeople recommends Sprout Garden by Mark Braunstein.

In fact, if you read the reviews, Gill  reviews it on Amazon's

site:http://www.amazon.com/Sprout-Garden-Mark-Mathew-Braunstein/dp/1570670730/re\

f=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8 & qid=1301788704 & sr=8-3

Since Sproutpeople's website is so comprehensive, I haven't bought that book. I

tend to go to their website whenever I wonder about something.hope that

helps.marion

Thanks, n. I definitely do mung beans and lentils and adzuki beans

too. I would love to do broccoli sprouts but haven't done so yet. Went to our

healthfood store, Earthfare today and saw the Sprout Garden that others have

talked about. I actually have a German sprouter already that I got from

Goodwill a year or two ago. Even had directions with it but they were all in

German, LOL! Even though I'm German-born, with a German mother I'm not

bi-lingual in German so went to the internet (it's a wonderful thing sometimes)

and found the directions in English. Anywho, I saw little packets of sprouting

beans, hemp, and other kinds, etc. displayed with the Sprout Garden, but they

really seemed expensive to me. I get my sprouting sources from the bulk bins

typically. Today I got French lentils, green lentils, adzuki, mung, and

garbanzo beans. They had Chia seeds as well, but I passed on them for today.

Also got some wheatberries to sprout as

well.

I was wondering too, if there's a good sprouting book available, one that might

be recommended by the group? Seems my local library (my home away from home,

LOL) doesn't have anything at all, which is a bit surprising.

Thea,I will leave the fenugreek and diabetes question to Melody who knows all

about that. I do sprout and enjoy fenugreek and it is one of those musts haves

in our house. But above and beyond all sprouts, in my book, are broccoli sprouts.

The health benefits of broccoli sprouts alone are well worth the expense of good

organic seed.Other regulars at my house are lentil sprouts, mung beans, and

peas. I mix alfalfa or clover 9r mustard or radish in with the

broccoliSproutpeople's Russian Mix is a big winner in our house for putting on

sandwiches. My favorite sprout is probably broccoli.mariontrying to write while

Hi Melody,

Just responding to your post below re Fenugreek benefits. I'm not diabetic

at all, but was curious about the benefits of fenugreek, both the sprouts

and the tea. Can you elaborate, please? (or anyone else who is familiar

with fenugreek). Also, perhaps either you or n knows which sprout is

the most nutritious? In other words, if I were only able to sprout one or

two things, what should it be, for optimum health?

One last question, what is everyone's favorite thing to sprout?

Thanks!

anything else. I always tell them, " Don't take my word for it, google it and

learn all about it' I've been making a concentrated form of the tea and I

sip it before bedtime. Best thing I ever did.

And of course I still sprout it. I don't mind the bitterness at all. It's

the best thing on a breakfast egg sandwich.

Thanks, n. I typically don't buy books due to the wealth of info on the

'net so that's my first 'go-to' place. If I can get a really good deal on

Sprout Garden, I may look into getting it, though.

Thanks again,

T.
