When I saw the episode of Extreme Makeover that involved the five kids with autism, I wondered if the entire family had Lead poisoning. There seemed to be a low cognitive functioning ability evident in the parents and the kids. The Extreme Makeover team neglected to test this family's residential water for Lead, Arsenic, etc., and also neglected to install a filter. You can live in a beautiful re-made home and still be drinking Lead, and without biomedical testing and treatment, the children (and parents) will just get worse and worse and worse... What a shame for them.

When you have a child, and you know they are sick and have problems,

and then you decide to DO NOTHING to help them......

I don't define that as love.

There are many other words that come to mind, and most of them aren't

very nice.

humans are capable of going into extreme denial, literally no boundaries

In all honesty, I believe that her intentions are from the heart.

She truly believes that what she is doing is love...and that intent

is what matters. We may disagree and it may break our hearts, but

it's not our choice to make. I more tend to agree that she is less

educated on the matter of biomed and if someone she trusted broached

this subject with her enough to inform her of it's true nature, she'd

change her mind.

Regardless, as parents, we should be supportive of each other. I have many friends in my community who do not do diet & biomed with their children. I do not critisize or judge them nor do they judge me. We are all parents in the same boat who choose different paths for our children. We are judged enough by others and should not be judging each other. It is hurtful and wrong.

Information has changed drastically in the last 5 years. She has

older kids. She may be in a different spot if she had 5 kids under

6. The info wasn't as available when her teens were newly

diagnosed. I had to really dig to find help for my now 5 yr old.

Everyday I have moms contact me who don't have info. Early

Childhood services won't even let me in to talk to parents about

diet.

We all need to stand united in the autism community. It affects us

all differently. And I believe we are all doing our best.

What kills me is that she has never been attacked for not using birth control and having so many kids on the spectrum (although I am sure it was in all of America's mind)... yet she has the audacity to attack the parents that are doing something to help their children... she claims that we should just "love" them.... implying we don't because we don't accept our kids with autism... she is a nutcase case!!! (her definition of love is an excuse to not do a thing for her kids) Autism is an autoimmune disorder that affects our children in their neurodevelopment!!! And most of them are in pain... It would be like saying I love my Diabetic son and I accept him as he is so I will not aggravate him with needles and insulin,

because I would be destroying his diabetic essence... it just does not make sense!!! She seems like the type of mother with Munchhausen Syndrome by Proxy... loves that her kids are sick and that way she gets all the attention... Look at her, she has been rewarded already with a new house, for being a sorry excuse of a special needs mother!!! God forbid she gets off her but and does something to help her children!!! We all know that we did not choose the easy way out, but she did!!! We are all up to our ears in debt, but we do it for the love and future of our children!!! And her comment hurts us because we LOVE our kids so much we have sacrificed enough, for her to throw a stone at us!!! (so she can feel better about her self)...

That is correct DANA, we should be supportive of each other, and should not attack someone for doing what they do to help their children!!! Who named her mother of the year?!!! We don't open blogs to criticize any one for not doing biomedical!!! Even if we don't approve!!! She crossed the line!!! And threw the first stone!!! For no reason at all, may be she was bored and wanted more attention!!! I don't know...
