There is nothing more important than taking care of yourself and no one knows better than you when something is just not right. I'm glad to know that you are responding so quickly by seeing your doctor SOON. My thoughts will be with you. Take care of yourself, girl. Guest guest
That is so odd that this happenned to you Toni!! My heart use to race on occasion a few years back and I would just sit still and wait for it to pass. Well, this past Saturday, it happenned to me right after a Tae-Bo workout while I was doing an arms of steel tape. It was horrible. I sat down and just let it pass. It felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. I was not out of breath in any way, my heart was just racing though. That was the first that it's ever happenend to me while working out. Keep us posted on how you are feeling! Darcy who wonders for sure what the causes of your heart racing are... > Hello guys,As most of you know, I've been trying to complete a 21DC with Jenni. On last Friday, which would have been day 6, I didn't work out, so I started over Saturday. Well, yesterday at work I had a REALLY bad day...throughout the day, I was experiencing heart palpatations, but I just chalked it up to being stressed at work. Last night while I was in class (I'm taking my classes online this semester), anyway, I fell asleep during class (oops, hope my prof. isn't on this group)and when I woke up, my fingertips of my left hand were all cold and numb and that palpitating heartbeat was back. I got scared, which made it worse...so at this point, on top of the palpitations, my heart was racing. I ran over to my neighbors house (convinced I was going to need urgent medical attention)...she told me to lie down. She know's of my love for TB (she's even come over a couple of times and worked out with me), but she started lecturing me about how I overwork myself (with working out). I knew it couldn't be that, but then it dawned on me...I HAVEN'T BEEN PROPERLY HYDRATING MYSELF IN THIS LAST WEEK!!!! And when I workout (especially with the bag), I sweat BUCKETS (literally)...I remembered reading something in the past about when your body is severly dehydrated and potassium levels are deficient you'll get heart palpitations...luckily, I keep Mortons Lite Salt just for that reason (it's Potassium Chloride instead of NaCl.) Anyway, I started eating the salt, and began to feel a little better...but then she offered me some Gatorade. Within 5 minutes the numbness in my hands had gone away, and my heartrate had returned to normal. Has this ever happened to anyone here? On the one hand, I think it's wonderful that our bodies are so fine tuned that they tell us when they need something, on the other hand, my dad died of a massive heart attack so any little thing with the heart scares me. I'm not taking any chances...I'm not going to work out until I can get a Dr's appt. and get an EKG and Stress Test. If anyone here has had > a similar experience, please share and help ease my mind. Although I have never experienced something like this, I have experienced the " symptoms " of dehydration. I think I explained this a few days ago to when trying to convince her to drink water that when you don't hydrate yourself, you screw up your blood electrolytes (ie sodium, potassium) and that can lead to some strange symptoms. Gatorade not only is loaded with water, it is also loaded with electrolytes and helps restablish normal electrolyte equilibrium in the blood. However, it is also loaded with glucose which increases its caloric value (but that's another subject). I think it is safe to check with a doctor, however, I'm pretty certain that you are ok. That was the right decision to hold off on the 21 DC until you get a clean bill of health! Keep us updated!

Whenever you are tired, over stressed etc. They can happen pretty easy. And don't let the name confuse you...you don't really have to be panicky about any. Sometimes when I get them my chest pounds and I have so many symptoms including numbness and cold because I am not breathing slow enough for my lungs to pick up oxygen. a Check out our website at: http://members.truepath.c\ om/Crabtrees/home.html The very best antique company in Texas http://www.antiqueservices.net

I pray the tests show everything's OK and just from underhydration. The heart is nothing to mess with. I had two friends die within 1 week of each other of heart attacks 2 years ago November. One of them was a smoker and was trying to get his health back in order, so he had just successfully quit smoking. Guest guest
I have things like that happen to me especially over the next couple of days where I am studying like crazy for an exam on Tuesday and an assignment I have to complete tonight, so I know how you feel. I experience those attacks except for the numbness, although I am getting a lot of pins and needles (this is an aussie saying incase you haven't heard it before). Guest guest
Toni, Is it possible that you had a panic attack? Whenever you are tired, over stressed etc. They can happen pretty easy. Let me begin by thanking ALL of you for your responses, suggestions, and knowledge that you've offered me since my post yesterday. You guys are the greatest!!! a, I had a panic attack about a year ago and it scared the bejeezes out of me. To be quite honest, the situation Tuesday night was almost identical (except last year I didn't have the numb fingers). I have been unsuccessful in getting an appointment with a Cardiologist in the very near future (like sometime this week), so I have resorted to talking to my Orthopedic Surgeon and my GYN about what happened and they all say that given my level of health and fitness, Panic Attack is their theory also...but they still suggested that I get checked out. Yesterday I 'think' I felt a palpatation here and there (but I'm not sure if it was in my mind or not, because at that point, I was almost too focused on my heartrhythm). Today, I feel normal...but still trying to get to a Dr. Toni-who's feeling better, but still waiting to workout

Has this ever happened to anyone here? What is that old saying....it doesn't take a Rocketscientist to figure this one out.......I personally think YOU already figured it out...although I do highly recommend a trip to the old Dr. You are wise to listen to your body, we praying for yah... peace AmyBeth-who remembers your level of intensity when you work out (sweating like does) and is very sure it is the lack of Potassium and other nutrients you were denying yourself that was the culprit have had heart palpitations...when I smoked.....and worked out to that intensity......mine btw were linked to Anxiety attacks!!! Hyperventilating can give numbness in the extremities, due to a lack of appropriate oxygenation of those areas.
