Guest guest
As always, Elle, you are wise, kind and give us deep, thought provoking things to think about. You are right. By the way, I am glad you are reinstating our friend. I love you dearly, Elle, and thank you for getting us back on track. Hugs and blessings, Ann
Guest guest
Great post, Elle. You are so right; life is just too short for drama unless it is on stage and set to music. Locally, we have buried to young men, both 19, who died in Iraq. The father of one boy said, " I asked God to bring my son home; I should have said, " bring him home alive.' " Thanks for reminding us of the soldiers, and may God bring them home, alive, and soon. _____ From: Elle@holidayfun Sent: Friday, April 16, 2004 12:02 AM To: DS_Friends_Keshishian Subject: " Friends " I have been missing one of my dear friends on the group, and I am reinstating her to the group. Because she left the group with a very vitrolic rant, I am placing her on moderated status to start with. However, this person was the second person to ever post to the " Friends " group. She has been with us from the beginning. It has recently been said that I am suggesting there be a lot of email " off group " to address hurts. This is probably a bit confused about my intentions. What I actually said was that I wish if you needed to rant -- that you would send it DIRECTLY TO ME. If you really need to address a BIG hurt here on the group, I do suggest that you PRE-SEND it to one of the moderators for some input BEFORE you post it! If there is a lot of email passing " off group, " it will likely be interpreted as " hate mail " between members. I use a very effective tool in my life. Some of you might find it helpful! I IGNORE people! I found a definition in the dictionary for ignore: " To refuse to pay attention to; disregard. " Sometimes one of the most effective means of dealing with people is to " IGNORE " them. Many religious groups use " ignoring " as an effective tool for bringing discipline to their congregations. Only they call it " shunning. " -- to avoid deliberately; to keep away from. THINK about it! Usually, because I am a moderator, I try to read everyone's posts... however, on other groups I belong to... I often don't bother to read some people's posts... especially people that offend me! Sometimes it is because they are too negative... sometimes it is because they whine constantly... sometimes they are too sexual.... or too preachy... or whatever. Sometimes I just plain don't like someone! Why should I take up my precious time with someone who consistently offends me! After all... if I am reading a string... and really want to go back and read that person's posts that started it... I still can! Life is too short to be caught up in the drama of a few... I don't know what all of you do in life, but I know that most of you have families, jobs, and a life that is ever so much more important than the drama we can create on this group. I know that I just returned from Austin, Texas this morning... where I was so happy to see a little girl who is in the hospital where I placed her because her diabetes was so brittle that she was on the point of death several times this fall. It was a glory to me to see that child looking healthy and looking forward to her discharge in May. Everyday, I see children who lose their families... and I deal with parents (mostly moms) who through ignorance, drug abuse, poor parenting themselves... anger... have LOST their children. Some of them will never attain the ability to have their children returned to them. I deal with children who put their head through walls in their grief of trying to understand why a parent doesn't have the means to turn their life around so that a child can go home. We have our young men and women serving around the world... in dangerous situations. These proud Americans like Marta's boy in Iraq... place their very life on the line moment by moment... so that you and I can get on our keyboards in the comforts of our homes... and write to each other. (By the way... it is not only Americans... amongst the coalition of the willing... we have proud soldiers from Australia as well!) ... I don't want to leave anyone else...have we got anyone writing from countries other than the US and Australia? Let's be Friends... Let's be Friends........ Let's be Friends ............ Seriously.... Let's be Friends .......... Elle
