Re: [sproutpeople -now quinoa patties Posted by: " " JENSMITH@...  underhillfiber Sun Apr 17, 2011 8:23 am (PDT) I never like quinoa as a grain cooked like rice. However it is completely different as a sprout! I eat it for breakfast every day. Breakfast cereal of sprouts... Equal parts quinoa, buckwheat, and shelled sunflower seeds. Soak about half a cup of this mix about half an hour. (in morning) Drain and rinse well. Rinse and drain again that night. Next morning rinse and cook with olive oil, sea salt, maple syrup, and just enough water to keep it moist, not quite enough to cover it. Cook just a few minutes. Basically bring to a near boil turn off heat and eat. Or you could nuke it for one minute. You don't fully cook it, just slightly. I sometimes add sprouted peas beans or lentils. Raisins are also good. Over cooking is fine, especially with extra stuff tossed in. Go light on the maple syrup, just a tiny drizzle is needed. Always better with extra olive oil! You can eat this after the first rinse or wait untill you have leaves growing. Just be warned the Sunnies get discolored after a few days. Still tasty and safe, just not so pretty. I mix the different colors of quinoa because the white is cheep and the red is pretty! >
