I wish I had the discipline to follow a diet, but I don't! LOL! I just try to

eat less cr@p and more good stuff. I keep an eye on my calorie intake too.

Keeping a food journal has helped me a lot.

Mine was a little tight and I found out the day off the wedding. My sister

had to creatively safety pin the back. LOL.

Dawn,

I do Zone, not for weight loss, but for low blood

sugar problems. To combat the low blood sugar, my

doctor told me to eat frequently. Well, I didn't want

to gain any weight, so I would eat lots of baby

carrots. By 4 o'clock, I could barely keep my eyes

open and thinking was out of the question. I had

trouble driving home from work. After dinner I would

start to feel better. I didn't know it, but I was

sabotaging myself with a low-fat, high carb

diet...cereal, skim milk, and OJ for breakfast, baked

potato or pasta for lunch, and lots of fruit and

carrots for snacks. I didn't have any significant

protein until dinner.

I started researching diets when I realized that my

wedding ceremony was right in the middle of my " zombie

period " . Two weeks before my wedding I changed my

diet. I didn't know what to eat, and ate so much

cheese, that I thought that I may gain some weight,

but I didn't care if it controlled my blood sugar.

Not only did it control my blood sugar, but it

controlled my hunger, and without realizing it, I lost

weight too. So much, that my wedding dress didn't fit

(2 days before the wedding).

With all of the stress I've been going through

lately, I haven't been zoning the way I should, and

can really tell the difference in my energy level and

the way my pants fit. I highly recommend Zoning as a

way of eating for the rest of your life.

If you decide to start Zoning, let me know. I can

give you some good web sites to get you started.

Dawn,

When I first started Tae-Bo I was doing WW! I am a lifetime member of

WW and am now at my goal weight. I think it's a very sensible plan

that teaches you about portion control and living a healthy

lifestyle! Now, I basically eat whatever I want....and allow myself

indulgences but try to keep them in moderation (emphasis on the word

TRY...LOL)!

Dawn,

I basically started Zoning for the same reasons as Kerri. Not always was I

always hungry on low fat, high carb diets, I often didn't feel good and

would have bouts of low blood sugar and nauseousness.

I also have IBS and find that the Zone is a good balanced diet for me. Why I

chose the Zone over other low carb diets is that technically nothing is

forbidden on the Zone. If I absolutely have to have a piece of cheesecake, I

can balance it out iwth a protein shake or something...of course, some foods

are better for you than others, but with this diet I know all my options are

always open and I don't feel deprived.

Thanks Kerri - maybe we can chat through email! I don't want

to bore the rest of the group :-P But sooo much of what you said

sounds familiar to me...just add that my hands start shaking and

I feel extremely anxious and you've got it!!

The last couple of weeks I have been eating more healthy (no

fast food!) and I have been eating what makes me feel better..

i.e. cheese or tuna- and I have resisted the low fat bug...like

rice cakes or popcorn etc. and I feel really good. I haven't

lost a bunch of weight according to the scale but all of my

clothes are fitting much nicer and I feel like I'm in control.

It used to baffle me every time I'd try to do the low-fat thing

that I would feel worse!!!
