Guest guest
This is what I believe. If we all continue to grow sprouts, eat organic and drink pure water and breathe clean air, well.....unless we get hit by a bus or by lightening, we might just live to be a ripe old 100. And I'm not talking about walking with canes or walkers. I'm talking about boogying on down to disco music. At least, that's MY plan. You should see me when I go down the aisle in supermarkets, and Alan is following me with his walker. He has to sit and rest, and I'm boogeying to the music. And god forbid they start playing something from Credence Clearwater Revival or Sly and the Family Stones, then Alan will go down another aisle because YOU KNOW I'M DANCING. I cannot hear that type of music and just stand there and do nothing. I marvel at the other shoppers who are going about their merry way and all this great music is blaring out of the speakers and they are oblivious. I was snapping my fingers and (not making a spectacle of myself but really!!! I was boogying IN MY MIND. Alan always says " I'm not walking down the aisle with you if they are playing music " . I only wish Alan would eat my sprouts like I do. lol Melody http://www.youtube.com/user/eliz7212?feature=mhum Apr 10, 2011 11:19:58 AM, sproutpeople wrote: =========================================== Bonnie , Yah I have seen the ionizers that cost as much as my car. We use a Pur water purifier-not on the faucet because I have my fish tank hose adapter permanently attached--that's how nutty it is here.  We really like having clean water. Guest guest
I now use a Pur Water filter in my Pur Water Pitcher and I only drink water with my true lemon or orange crystals in it. With a dash of Stevia. I haven't used Soda in YEARS. Can't get Alan to do this though. He hates water. How can anyone hate water when it's a necessity for our bodies? I also rinse my sprouts with my Pur Water. I imagine them GROWING nice and plump because of this CLEAN water. Guest guest
Sure, I'd be happy to. Years ago, when I didn't want to do the diet soda thing anymore, and I stopped putting aspertame in my body, (about 10 years ago), I finally found this website: http://truelemon.com/ I tried their trueorange, their true raspberry lemonade (which is to die for) and that's what I've been drinking ever since. It's dehydrated citrus, all natural, no artificial anything. And the Raspberry lemonade is sweetened with Stevia. It comes in boxes and has 10 little packets it in. You pour a great big glass of water, and you add one of those little raspberry lemonade packets and you stir and you are drinking the best drink on the planet. Essentially flavored water, but sometimes I want a bit of a taste. And when I order it (they have lots of specials on shipping and) and when you go to the site, they tell you with any order you just type in a certain promo code and they will send you a free 32 count box of either true lemon or true orange. When I began doing this (and before I discovered the Raspberry Lemonade), I would just make orange ade and lemon ade, with my own stevia or splenda. Then I began buying boxes of the raspberry lemonade and it's easy just to pour a packet of the stuff into a big glass of water. Now I still have leftover square packets of the true lemon and the true orange. They come in big boxes and 32 count boxes. When I make my sprout salad, I sprinkle a pack of the true lemon (they also sent me a shaker bottle of the true lemon. It's like shaking salt out of a salt shaker but it's lemon crystals. You can put this on ANYTHING that you want to put lemon on, but in case you run out of lemons. I put the lemon on my salads and if I'm cooking fish, I sprinkle some on my fish. Delightful citrus flavor. Right now I felt like having a glass of oranges. So I took 3 of my true orange packets and that's enough for a nice big glass of orange ade. I just add Stevia and I'm good to go. No carbonation, no tummy bubbles. I don't like carbonation in my body. This stuff is WONDERFUL. They deliver quickly and when they have their free shipping specials (shipping is cheap anyway because the product is very light), well, when it arrives and you get that free box of either true lemon or true orange, well it's really cool. Anytime I order I opt for the free box of lemon because I use it all the time and I don't get good lemons around here and it's so convenientt. Just open a little packet and you have LEMON. But you must try the raspberry lemonade. I'm telling you, it's a great drink. And I wanted to find out where they sell truelemon products in any of the stores near me, and I found out it's in Shoprite. They have the boxes of truelemon and trueorange, but not the raspberry lemonade. So next time I go to to Shoprite, I'll get a couple boxes of the true orange, and I'll make orangeade all summer long. I mean, I go to Shoprite anyway, so now I can buy the stuff there. And if I'm ever hankering for their raspberry lemonade, I'll just buy it from their online store. Been using this product for a while now. Wouldn't use anything else. Guest guest
Melody,I kind of understand where Alan is coming from. I mean, I don't hate water, but have a hard time getting myself to drink it plain. Guest guest
Melody,My husband used to tease me about what I ate, until he started trying some things. He loves the banana-blueberry sorbet I make with the Omega as well as a few other raw ice creams. But now, get this, he takes a shot of wheatgrass with me! He will eat yogurt as long as I mix fresh berries into it and he drizzles honey on it.You can easily make your own yogurt and flavor it as you like or use it in recipes. We have a yogurt maker that I use to make nondairy yogurt and really like the flexibility. I got him to try some carrot-pear juice I made and now he is eagering waiting for the pears I bought to ripen so he can have more. Who knew!He just ate a pile of mixed sprouts with lunch, so definitely don't give up hope--little by little people try something, some sprout, some juice, something, that improves their diet. marion At least I got him to sample my home made blueberry sorbet that I made last night with my immersion blender. Guest guest
Actually I went one step further with the home made greek yogurt and put it into cheesecloth and overnight it turned to cream cheese. I put some garlic in it and I made cream cheese. But I don't do that anymore because I'm not into cream cheese or putting stuff on bread. I don't snack that much. I just eat my little meals, my sugar is fine, I sip my Fenugreek tea before bed time and for me, this works. And I just watched this tv show ADDICTED TO FOOD. Holy Cow, I never associated the two things that happened when one is either over eating or bulimic. The bulimic has to do her thing because AFTER she has a meal she doesn't feel well and has to get rid of the food. Then they showed the obese person who is now sitting in front of a healthy meal, and after she finishes eating the meal, she says " I don't feel good " and she got sick. As I'm watching this episode, the specialist on the show explains that she is addicted to processed food and that she is in withdrawal and her body has to adapt to getting rid of all that toxicity in the body. I never went through this, even at my heaviest. I was never a Macdonalds or s kind of person. But I weighed over 300 lbs (long ago) I have no idea why. But once I started sprouting, it just added to my well being and I have never looked back. At least I found a lifestyle that works for me. Now to get Alan on board. lol Melody Melody http://www.youtube.com/user/eliz7212?feature=mhum Apr 10, 2011 01:20:34 PM, sproutpeople wrote: =========================================== have you ever tried Kefir? In the omega, you just feed frozen banana and blueberries through the chute and it comes out like ice cream. There are lots of good vitamix recipes though for vegan raw ice cream. My favorite is: 1 baby coconut, juice and pulp3 cups frozen pineapple.blend in vitamix and serve.it is our sometime favorite. marion n Rollings, PhDNJ Licensed Psychologist #4686www.DrnRollings.com Until we have the courage to recognize cruelty for what it is--whether its victim is human or animal--we cannot expect things to be much better in this world... Guest guest
Hi Ladies, Though I have a Blendtec I find frozen banana/fruit ice creams work better in a food processor. Break up the bananas and fruit and whirr away. It will protest a bit. But just open it up and scrap it down and it will come out nice and creamy with a frozen whip texture. My favorite treat! Guest guest
LOL, Melody! My mother (age 76) is a market dancer too! She has tap danced most of her life, and when she hears an inspiring song, she busts it out!  My daughter (age 16) thinks her ol' granny is FABULOUS, and will gladly hook arms with her and join in! Being confined to a wheelchair, I often serve as the conductor....canes are great for that. Yes, we get looked at funny, and I wonder why that is, since no one sees to pay any mind to the people who are screaming at (or hitting) their children that act out, but they seem to think WE are nuts for doing something happy and fun! =========================================== Bonnie , Yah I have seen the ionizers that cost as much as my car. I just got the Aquasana and am really happy with that. But my kids HATE it. I got the faucet model and it is in their way. Melody, people chew wheatgrass because is nuetralizes the acids on the teeth and feeds them the oxygen they need to fight the carries. n, I now have my French garden in a tray, my milk thistle in a tray, my coriander in a tray and my wheatgrass in a tray, I am taking 3 glorious days off, so I will finally start my beet sprouts and I am so excited. I have wanted the Aquasana for over a year and the wheatgrass for over two years and slow and steady get me ready I am finally realizing my goals. Suzan drinking bone broth and scarfing sprouts, will be making sprout juice soon Suzan who would greet god at the door with wheatgrass and a coffee and lemon juice chaser. Not to mention bone broth. Barbara, my favorite sprout bread is rye, but I am willing to try anything. Have you tried juicing sprouts??? I am working on juicing wheat grass, barley grass, broccoli and mustard sprouts as well as milk thistle and cilantro, or coriander

Guest guest
Oh, okay, then I'll tell you what happened when I went to my dentist yesterday. Got a GREAT checkup, and when the dentist checked my gums he said 'wow, they look great, WHAT DO YOU EAT?? " I said " well, I grow my own food in my kitchen, then I gave them the link to my sprout channel on youtube and I described all that I sprout. They just looked at me and were amazed. Then the dentist said to me " you mean you never eat sugar, refined carbs or drink soda? and I said " NEVER " He then said: " Your teeth and gums reflect what you eat, and whatever you are eating, KEEP DOING IT " I said " that's all due to my sprouts " And we all laughed. Not that my dentist is going to become a sprouter, but well, ONE NEVER KNOWS. lol Melody http://www.youtube.com/user/eliz7212?feature=mhum Apr 14, 2011 01:01:51 PM, sproutpeople wrote: =========================================== .....These posts would be about as dry and lifeless as most school text books if we all didn't spice it up a little with some personal artifacts...at least as far as I'm concerned...... Guest guest
Melody, here is a question that I would like for you to ask your dentist. When he says 'soda' is he talking about the sugar or the whole thing. I can't find anywhere that says sparkling water or carbonated water is not good for me. ew Re: water and wheat grass Hi. Guest guest
The dentist was probably referring to the sugar harming teeth.... The big issue with any type of carbonated beverage, be it plain or sugared, is that it tends to put the body into an acidotic state which has been shown to be an ideal environment for cancer, disease and an non optimal state of health....it is thought an alkaline blood pH is truly optimal for well being and helps prevent ca and disease..... Guest guest
Might he also have been referring to the phosphoric acid in most sodas? Phosphoric acid erodes your teeth. Hi all! New here in the group. I've been lurking for a few days and already I feel like I " know " several of you. ;-) I've just decided to start getting serious about sprouting. Had my first shot of wheat grass juice a week or so ago and I actually liked it. I have the equipment and seed waiting for me when I get home! I'm SO excited - but I know I will have a LOT of questions for the group. Guest guest
Welcome . The acid in the soda is definitely not good for teeth or body. I think the phosphoric acid is found in colas and not necessarily in plain carbonated waters- but in any event the bubbles aren't the best thing for the body. That's a double whammy for me as I love cola!!!! What's the story behind the Froglady name? Sent from my BlackBerry® powered by Virgin Mobile. Guest guest
I am absolutely 100% SURE HE MEANT SODA WITH SUGAR. In that office, THEY HATE ANYTHING WITH SUGAR. So if it has sugar, it's a no no. I'm sure seltzer, sparkling water, anything that people use without sugar would be perfectly fine. It's the kids who guzzle the stuff morning noon and night, well, THEY will have problems down the line.
