No, my dear, it would not be poison, just very concentrated vinegar.

I should imagine it would be a bit strong on the digestion as it is!

On the other hand you have now the most marvellous starter for your new brew,

as acidic is VERY good for starting a brew. It will protect your culture

very well against mould.

My advice is: Use this very string acidic KT together with your solid

culture, the scoby as starter and if you have still some left over, for

cleaning your working surfaces. It is a most wonderful antibacterial

substance!

And don't let the next brew go longer than a week! Then try it and see

what your taste buds say.

For now you have just had a pickling or preserving experience ;-)

but believe me, if you persist with brewing Kombucha, the best is yet

to come and it won't taste like vinegar if you leave it much shorter.

Try it on day 7 or 8 next time.

With healthy Kombucha greetings and a Happy New Year,

Margret (in the UK next door ;-)

Noooooo! Not the doctor!!

The Kombucha vinegar is quite harmless even though it

was a bit strong and overpowering. It's actually quite healthy.

You could still drink some of it in very small quantity mixed with

a spoonful of honey and warm water.... very good against colds.

Kombucha is your friend, it's also full of surprises... good ones, I mean!

All the best,

kombuchaly,

Margret:-))

The doctor will probably have no clue, haha, unless of course he/she is a

natural doctor of some kind.

Hi, I am Dutch too, though I have been living in the US since 1996. Van

Kampen is my maiden name :-) My mother's maiden name is Schaap, now that

has given some interesting situations here (they ask for your mother's

maiden name for legal stuff :-)

Anyway, I wouldn't worry, just drink a lot of water to flush it and I

wouldn't drink it anymore but start over. You might get some diarrhea and

cramping but this too will pass :-)

I brewed one batch (3 gallons) too long as well...

Found that if I drank a little right after my meal it helped my digestion...

But was too strong to drink alone.

Initially I had to have the sweet KT. Over time I found I liked the more tart

brews.

I don't drink juices, but mixed in juice could make it palatable.

As was suggested earlier, brewing for shorter length will give a lovely brew,

and using this strongly acidic KT for starter (and to keep extra scobies) is a

great idea! (Plus cleaning with it!)

And no, I don't think you have anything to worry about!

KT is truly helpful to us...

Warmest Aloha,

Lusana

If you feel fine now, don't worry.

From your description, I don't think your KT was poison.

It was probably just a good starter liquid. Use it for one

of you next batches (also make a small batch without just

in case there is something else going on there.)

Eat, drink, and be healthy

Simply diluting it with water will really help it. Then, adding a little

stevia or xylitol will take it another step. But the water is a really

good idea for the stomach.

I can't believe I forgot that idea!!!!

I only could remember the Coca cola mixture, and since I don't drink sodapop

nor any juices, had discarded any possibilities of doctoring it up! Silly me!

THANKS!
