No Gail I am sorry I can't help you in this matter. My Mother in law has it though and she has RA. She just went for more tests today. They think it has to do with her eyes or something like that. I will let you know what I find out after she gets her test back. They did an MRI of the brain. So it might take two weeks or so before she finds out anything.

Have you tried doing a search on the internet for that? Just asking because I try to search for anything they say I have. LOL

Hey, Everyone,

Have any of you ever suffered from tinnutis (ringing in the ears)? I have had problems for about 6 years and none of the docs I've seen seem to be able to figure the cause. They chedked all my meds, and the only one I was on that would cause this was Plaquenil, and I only took it two weeks before they yanked me off of it. It seems to be getting worse and is to the point where I can't sleep unless I have some other noise in the room to mask it. Three years ago they checked my hearing and I have lost 30% in both my ears. I think it's gotten worse since then, because I can't have the T.V. on and talk on the phone at the same time, or if there is more than one person talking, I can't understand what they are saying.

The audiologist told me that it was bad enough that he was recommending me to go to the hearing aid center and be fitted for a "tinnutis mask". He said it looked similar to a small hearing aid, but gave off a type of frequency that would cancel out the noise I hear in my ears. I was happy until I found out that Medicare didn't cover it. So I must suffer.

It's driving me crazy! I am going to look for a "white noise" device and see if that doesn't help. I was just wondering if any of you had to deal with this too. Thought maybe it might be a Still's thing, but I've never "heard" that, lol.

Take Care!

Gail

I have had ringing in the ears for years and years. I just must be used to it so much that I do not pay it any attention any more. I was actually surprised a couple times this summer when I heard crickets chirping out in the back yard at night. I can not blame it on loud hippy music back in the 60's, but maybe can blame it on loud noises from gun fire, bombs, and jet engines. Although I do like to crank up some Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefers maybe a little too loud.

Gail,

I have ear "noise" too but not always tones in various pitches. Most of the time it just sounds like a high pitched "hum" like certain lights emit. I sleep with a ceiling fan and water fountain on. It helps. Sorry you have this. Hope you feel better soon.

Caroline,

Thanks for the great idea! I have a fountain that I haven't used in a few years, maybe I should crank it up tonight before going to bed? I'll try anything...
